Joffrey Lupul didn't take part in Thursday's practice at Joe Louis Arena because of a leg injury, although it will be determined Friday morning whether he will be able to play against the Detroit Red Wings. - Orange County Register

Tim Connolly left Thursday's practice early with a sore hip, but head coach Lindy Ruff expects him to play Friday. Mike Grier, who has missed two games to be with his ill mother, is expected to rejoin the Sabres on Saturday in New York. - Buffalo News

Adam Pardy, Dion Phaneuf, Jay Bouwmeester, Rene Bourque, Daymond Langkow and Olli Jokinen all did not take the game day skate. Craig Conroy skated, and will be a game-time decision. - TSN

DiPietro will start again Tuesday in Bridgeport to complete his three-game conditioning stint. After his assignment in Bridgeport is complete, it will be up to the Islanders' coaches to determine how and when to work him into the goaltending rotation. - Newsday
