Joffrey Lupul didn't take part in Thursday's practice at Joe Louis Arena because of a leg injury, although it will be determined Friday morning whether he will be able to play against the Detroit Red Wings. - Orange County Register

Tim Connolly left Thursday's practice early with a sore hip, but head coach Lindy Ruff expects him to play Friday. Mike Grier, who has missed two games to be with his ill mother, is expected to rejoin the Sabres on Saturday in New York. - Buffalo News

DiPietro will start again Tuesday in Bridgeport to complete his three-game conditioning stint.
