Winger Joffrey Lupul said he's improving but sat for the second consecutive game Saturday as he deals with numbness in his leg that's a symptom of the back issues that have troubled him all season. He's hopeful he'll be ready for Wednesday's game at Vancouver. - Orange County Register

Head coach John Anderson has confirmed defenceman Mark Popovic has a broken foot and will miss 3-4 weeks. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

LW Milan Lucic could be back on the ice this week, having missed just under three weeks since suffering a high ankle sprain. - Boston Herald

C Craig Conroy got back into the lineup on Sunday after missing two games with a sprained wrist. His return pushed Brandon Prust to the sidelines. D Adam Pardy, now out with a wrist injury for three games, didn't make the trip. - Calgary Herald

The team placed G Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers Sunday and reassigned forwards Patrick Dwyer and Jiri Tlusty to the Albany (AHL). - News Observer

F Sergei Samsonov, who missed two games with a lower-body injury, is expected to return this week. - News Observer

Patrick Kane was tripped by Tampa Bay's Matt Smaby on Sunday, and hit his head on the ice before he slid into the boards. Though he was able to skate off under his own power, Kane didn't return to the game. Teammate Marian Hossa described Kane as "a little shaky," but coach Joel Quenneville said he had a cut above his eye that required stitches. Quenneville expected Kane to be ready for Wednesday's home game against St. Louis. - Sun-Times

Wingers Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos missed Colorado's 3-2 victory over Calgary on Sunday. Colorado coach Joe Sacco said both were considered "day to day" — Hejduk with a knee injury and Svatos with a groin problem. - Denver Post

F Derek Dorsett will have surgery Monday on his broken left hand and is expected to miss four weeks. - Columbus Dispatch

Mark Fistric was hospitalized briefly Saturday morning in Los Angeles when he got sick from having a parasite in his stomach. He missed Saturday's game, but returned home with the team and is expected to be ready for Wednesday. - Dallas Morning News

Starting goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who hasn't been on the ice in about three weeks, continues to rehab his sore back and is not close to being ready to return. - Edmonton Journal

The team sent injured winger Nick Tarnasky to Rochester (AHL) on Sunday for a conditioning stint, the next step toward him playing for the first time this season. F Dominic Moore remains questionable for Monday's game against the Islanders because of a bruised abdomen. - Sun Sentinel

F Ryan Smyth (upper-body) won't accompany the team on this week's road trip and won't return until Dec. 26. F Wayne Simmonds is scheduled to undergo knee surgery on Monday and a timetable for his return will be set after the procedure. - L.A. Times

F Jordin Tootoo was scheduled to undergo an MRI on his foot on Sunday, but the team said it wouldn't know the results until Monday. Tootoo left Saturday's game after taking a Shea Weber slap shot to his right foot. - Tennessean

The team sent D Cody Franson to Milwaukee (AHL) on Sunday, leaving Alexander Sulzer as one of the remaining six blueliners. - Tennessean

The Isles offered no update on oft-injured goalie Rick DiPietro, who was removed Friday from his second AHL rehab start with leg stiffness after two strong periods. They reiterated that it was “unrelated” to the multiple left knee surgeries he has undergone since January, but DiPietro is questionable for his next start Tuesday at Bridgeport. - New York Daily News

Brandon Dubinsky (broken right hand) returned to practice on Saturday, but still hasn't been cleared for game action. - New York Post

Braydon Coburn, who has struggled recently, was wearing a walking boot on his right foot to protect an ankle injury suffered Saturday in New Jersey. GM Paul Holmgren said Coburn was day-to-day. Ole-Kristian Tollefsen, who hasn't played since Nov. 7, will replace Coburn in the line-up. - Philadelphia Daily News

D Dan Boyle will continue to be evaluated this week to determine the extent of an injury suffered at the end of Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, but a team spokesman said Sunday that it does not appear to be serious. No details on the injury were released. Boyle was driven into the boards by Taylor Pyatt just as the final buzzer sounded, and had to be helped from the ice. - Mercury News

After practice on Sunday, head coach Ron Wilson said he hadn't decided yet if D Luke Schenn will play on Monday against Ottawa. Schenn was a healthy scratch on Saturday against Washington. - TSN

The team has recalled D Karl Alzner and C Kyle Wilson from Hershey (AHL) on Monday and assigned C Mathieu Perreault to Hershey. - Team Release

The Capitals assigned C Michael Nylander to Grand Rapids (AHL). The move means his $4.875 million cap hit no longer will count against the club's salary cap figure. - Washington Post

I KNOW that it would have been better for the Ducks if LA won....but screw it....I'm happy they lost.
