One of our former goaltenders Martin Gerber was injured yesterday in Russia.
A player on the opposing team collided with him and initially he was thought to have fractured a vertabrae in his neck, however the doctors have stated he has bruised his spine and does not have a fracture.

Looks like a game at Anaheim Ice!
Is the KHL really that ghetto?
I mean I know they don't usually have stretchers and instead have a history of taking wounded (and dead
) players out on tarps... but seriously, that looks like a rec league venue with a video screen.

Wow. according to tsn, 2 months in a russian hospital + more rehab etc.
Damn, the injury is one thing, but the fact that the system there is.... not so nice... shall we say.... must be nuts. I really hope he gets better quickly.

hope he heals well
i always liked gerber
i think a solid goalie
i dont think his career is over but wow thats heavy
just like you bruise any bone
its a contusion
spine has alot of cartlidge and bone
a impact on bone with something heavy will bruise it
if the spine flexes in a suddern motion or in any unnatural way it will sprain
these motions can cause your spinal cord to also in a sense be bruised because of the way it moved
the protected parts of the spine moved out of line allowing possible rubing with harsher parts of the spine thats doesnt have the padding
