TSN's Ice Chips
Forward Ryan Getzlaf suffered a laceration on his right leg in Saturday night’s game when he accidentally cut himself with his skate blade. Getzlaf did not practice Sunday and was seen walking with a bandage around his knee. Head coach Randy Carlyle said it was possible that Getzlaf could play Tuesday against Minnesota, but he was taking precaution. - Orange County Register

Rookie Evander Kane missed Sunday’s practice after injuring his shoulder in Saturday’s loss to Tampa Bay. Head coach John Anderson said Kane is “day-to-day” after being examined by doctors. Kane was scheduled to make the next leg of the team’s road trip, which continues Monday in New Jersey. - Atlanta Journal Constitution
Bruins left wing Milan Lucic, out since Nov. 25 with a high ankle sprain, is skating and hopes to play as early as the Jan. 1 Winter Classic at Fenway Park, if not soon after. - Boston Globe/Herald
Winger Kris Versteeg missed his second consecutive game with the flu. Bryan Bickell replaced him in the lineup. - Chicago Tribune
Forward James Neal missed practice Sunday with the flu and Stephane Robidas was left dizzy briefly when he was hit in the head with a puck. Goalie Marty Turco (flu) and LW Brenden Morrow (flu) practiced after missing Saturday’s game. Defencemen Trevor Daley (shoulder) and Mark Fistric (concussion) also practiced. Rostislav Olesz missed his first game of the season Sunday as expected. Olesz missed Saturday’s practice with the flu. Shawn Matthias was recalled from the team’s AHL affiliate to take Olesz’s spot. Winger Nick Tarnasky made his season debut Sunday. Tarnasky had been out since experiencing complications from a broken orbital bone suffered in a preseason fight with Ottawa’s Chris Neil on Sept. 15. - Miami Herald
Forward Justin Williams, who broke his leg on Saturday, is scheduled to see team doctors today and might need surgery, head coach Terry Murray said. Winger Teddy Purcell, a healthy scratch Saturday, practiced in Williams’ spot on the top line and is likely to play there today. Forward Daniel Winnik, who left the game on Saturday night with his right arm in a sling, was placed on injured reserve and is week-to-week, but the Coyotes did not specify his injury. Centre Kevin Porter and left winger Jeff Hoggan were recalled from San Antonio of the AHL. Porter has played in two games for the Coyotes this season, and this is Hoggan’s first call-up this season. - Arizona Republic
Defenceman Mark Eaton has missed three games due to a knee injury. Eaton was gassed after the Penguins’ morning skate yesterday. He’s hoping the extra work he did will pay off with a return to the lineup soon. The Penguins are expected to resume talks with Gonchar's agent, JP Barry, early this week. Gonchar can become an unrestricted free agent July 1, though he is open to signing an extension during the season. The club and Barry were close on neither term nor salary during early season discussions. - Tribune Review
Winger Paul Kariya left Sunday’s game in the second period after getting an elbow in the head from the Sabres' Patrick Kaleta. Kariya went to the locker room and the Blues announced later that he had an upper-body injury. The Blues will have an update on Kariya’s status today. - St. Louis Post Dispatch
Head coach Alain Vigneault said Ryan Johnson would have a CT scan on his foot on Monday. The team has no plans to call up another forward for now as they have 12 healthy forwards. - TSN
