TSN's Ice Chips
Teemu Selanne, who had a pin removed Tuesday from his broken left hand, will be out one more week. - Orange County Register
The Hurricanes, who are already without forwards Erik Cole and Chad LaRose will also be without Sergei Samsonov and Scott Walker on Saturday. According to coach Paul Maurice said both have upper-body injuries. Zach Boychuk and Jiri Tlust were recalled from the AHL on Friday. - Raleigh News-Observer
Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson "is doing much better" according to coach Joel Quenneville. Hjalmarsson, who was hit in the head with a puck when he was on the bench against the Devils, is considered day-to-day, but did not make the trip with the team, and won't suit up against the Blues on Saturday. Despite a setback in his recovery from a knee injury, defenseman Niklas Kronwall hopes to return at some point on the West Coast trip. Forward Patrick Eaves returned to practice on Friday after missing a few days with the flu. Center Jarret Stoll, who has missed six straight games with of a sore groin, practiced Friday and is expected to play Saturday against the Washington Capitals. Defenseman Randy Jones, who has missed five games because of headaches and dizziness after being hit by Oilers forward Dustin Penner, returned to the ice on Friday, but he won't play on Saturday. - LA Times
