Forward Ryan Getzlaf sat out a third consecutive game on Saturday. The inflammation on the deep cut near his right knee is preventing him from skating comfortably. Defenceman Ryan Whitney took a puck to the face during Saturday's game, but returned to the game. He didn't lose any teeth, but has a gash on his face. - Orange County Register

Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson "is doing much better" according to coach Joel Quenneville. Hjalmarsson, who was hit in the head with a puck when he was on the bench against the Devils, is considered day-to-day. Defenseman John-Michael Liles, who was a healthy scratch for two straight games, returned to the lineup Saturday, because Brett Clark was out with a facial injury. - Denver Post
