F Nik Antropov will not play Thursday, according to head coach John Anderson. Antropov, a late scratch in Tuesday's game against the Penguins, has a hip injury. Anderson said Antropov is "probable" for Saturday's game with the Capitals. D Mark Popovic, out with a broken foot, said he expects to be cleared to return to practice Thursday. - Atlanta Journal Constitution
D Andrew Ference will miss six weeks with a groin injury, the team announced Wednesday. Ference was injured during the second period of Tuesday's win in Ottawa after he was hit by Chris Phillips. - CSNNE.com
Just two days after suffering three small fractures in his right thumb, Patrice Bergeron skated Wednesday with four other teammates. Bergeron can't move his thumb for 10-14 days, and said Wednesday that he'll be back in two weeks, so his spot on Team Canada "shouldn't be an issue." - CSNNE.com
Antti Niemi will be in net on Thursday against the Bruins. He is 10-2-1 this year with four shutouts. D Cam Barker is still day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He didn't play in Tuesday's win over the Wild. - Chicago Tribune
C Mike Ribeiro has been put on injured resrve and will be out 4-6 weeks after he was accidentally hit in the throat by New York's Christopher Higgins on Wednesday in a second-period collision at center ice. Higgins, who didn't see Ribeiro as they crossed paths, received a high-sticking penalty. - Dallas Morning News
Both Henrik Zetterberg and Dan Cleary gave thumbs up to returning to the lineup for Thursday's game at Los Angeles. F Mattias Ritola was assigned back to Grand Rapids (AHL) to make room for the returning players. Jimmy Howard will get the start in goal. - Detroit Free Press
D Lubomir Visnovsky, who sprained his ankle in the New Year's Eve game in Calgary, does not have a high sprain, which usually means a longer recovery time, but he still can't get his foot into his skate. - Edmonton Journal
Tomas Vokoun will start on Thursday against Montreal. Head coach Peter DeBoer confirmed that Dmitry Kulikov will remain with the Panthers for the rest of the season. - RDS
The team recalled D Alec Martinez from Manchester (AHL) and placed D Randy Jones on the injured reserve list (retroactive to Dec. 16). - Team Release

Head Coach Barry Trotz said F Martin Erat could return for Thursday's game against Carolina, but Saturday's game against Anaheim is more likely. The Predators recalled F Ben Guite from Milwaukee (AHL). F Joel Ward missed Wednesday’s practice with a lower-body strain and is questionable for the game. - Tennessean
The team assigned rookie D Matt Corrente to Lowell (AHL) on Wednesday. Corrente, 21, has played in 10 NHL games, but was scratched from Tuesday night's shutout victory over the Dallas Stars as Bryce Salvador returned from an ankle injury. - Star Ledger
F Aaron Voros was a healthy scratch on Wednesday against Dallas for the second consecutive game and 13th in the last 15. - Newsday
Barring an unexpected setback, Ray Emery says he will back in goal for the Flyers on Saturday night against Tampa Bay. - Comcast Sportsnet.com
Marc-Andre Fleury will start on Thursday against the Flyers. Much of Pittsburgh's lineup will be a game-time decision. - TSN
Forward Chris Kunitz (abdominal muscle) underwent surgery Wednesday and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. It appears likely that D Sergei Gonchar will play Thursday against Philadelphia. Gonchar took part in Wednesday's practice and looked fine. The availability of Ruslan Fedotenko and Max Talbot could be in question after they missed practice Wednesday. Coach Dan Bylsma said both players were undergoing "maintenance days," which sometimes simply means a day of rest but also could indicate an injury. - Tribune Review
Yan Stastny cleared waivers and joined the Blues, but he was a healthy scratch against the Sharks on Wednesday. Paul Kariya missed his fourth straight game (concussion symptoms). - St. Louis Post-Dispatch
F Jeff Halpern (lower body) could play Saturday against the Flyers, head coach Rick Tocchet said, though it sounded iffy. - St. Petersburg Times
