We're watching the Leafs game just now and it's not looking good for the blue & white blink.gif However I always say that they will triumph, so I'm sticking with my good thoughts banana.gif

It's 1-0 Pens with about 2 minutes left in the first period.

There was about to be a penalty shot however on review the previous shot actually went in the goal so it's now 2-1 Pens with 3 minutes left in the second.

Scratch that...

It's now 3-1 Pens dontgetit.gif

Eric Staal is on an indefinite leave of absence from the team following the death of his wife's sister. He has missed two games so far. - News Observer

det.png The Wings saw Henrik Zetterberg and Dan Cleary return from injuries the same night Tomas Holmstrom began a three- to four-week absence because of a non-displaced fracture in his foot. Holmstrom flew home to Detroit on Thursday morning. While he now joins an injured group that already included Johan Franzen (knee), Niklas Kronwall (knee), Jason Williams (fibula) and Jonathan Ericsson (knee. Ville Leino was inserted into the lineup in place of Holmstrom. - Detroit Free Press

Brian Elliott will start in goal Saturday against Florida. Shean Donovan and Alexandre Picard will be healthy scratches for Ottawa. - TSN

Milan Michalek (upper-body) is out indefinitely. The team has recalled Zack Smith and Martin St. Pierre from Binghamton (AHL). - TSN

phi.png G Ray Emery has been loaned to the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL) for conditioning on Saturday. He will rejoin the Flyers on Sunday. - Team Release

pho.png The Coyotes activated forward Daniel Winnik off of injured reserve, and placed forward Scottie Upshall on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 2. - Arizona Republic

tmp.png The Lightning benched one of their perceived core players Friday against New Jersey, as D Andrej Meszaros was a healthy scratch. "He's put himself in this position, as he hasn't played well," Lightning coach Rick Tocchet said. With Meszaros out of the lineup, Matt Walker returned to the ice for the first time since suffering an injury on Dec. 17 in St. Louis. - Tampa Tribune

Tocchet said Halpern will not play Saturday, and he likely won't be ready for Tuesday's home game against Washington. The target date appears to be Thursday against Florida. - Tampa Tribune

Injured defenceman Carl Gunnarsson could return Thursday against the Flyers. - TSN

van.png It appears Evan Oberg will make his NHL debut in place of Sami Salo this evening. Salo did skate on Saturday after taking Friday offf but did very little in the optional. Salo took a stick in the eye from teammate Willie Mitchell on Thursday. He returned to the game but the eye has since swelled up... Roberto Luongo was the only regular who skated on Saturday... Brad Lukowch will play his first NHL game of the season and makes his Canucks debut this evening. - TSN
