Despite a 4 game winning streak the Ducks didn't move a spot up in the standings. They could use some help from Pittsburgh, Vancouver and SJS tonight

Carolina's Tuomo Ruutu sat out Sunday because of an upper-body injury sustained in a fight against Colorado's Darcy Tucker on Friday night. Erik Cole, Sergei Samsonov, Joe Corvo and Scott Walker also missed the game for Carolina. - News Observer
Forward Marian Hossa was scratched from the lineup for the first time since missing the first 22 games with a shoulder injury. Hossa is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and he could play Thursday vs. Columbus. Defenceman Cam Barker missed his fourth consecutive game. He still is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. - Chicago Tribune
Defenceman Kris Russell missed Sunday's game because of an unspecified lower-body injury. Hitchcock said Russell was day-to-day and could be available to play Tuesday in St. Louis. Fredrik Modin missed his third straight game because of a bruised foot, suffered when he blocked a shot last week in Vancouver. Alexandre Picard took his place in the lineup. - Columbus Dispatch
Matt Niskanen was a healthy scratch Sunday. Coach Marc Crawford called him out after a bad game against the Rangers and sat him out against Columbus. - Dallas Morning News
Johan Franzen, who had major knee surgery Oct. 16, said he is doing well and might return before next month's Olympics. "The way things are right now, I might," he said. "I can turn and stop, but not at full speed yet. I'm still only at 60 percent or so for speed. We'll see." - Detroit Free Press
Defenceman Matt Greene, who suffered an undisclosed injury during a third-period fight with B.J. Crombeen Saturday, won't play tonight. He's due to undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury. Defenseman Alec Martinez was recalled from Manchester of the American Hockey League and defenceman Davis Drewiske (shoulder) was put on injured reserve. - L.A. Times
The team assigned F Ryan White to Hamilton of the AHL on Sunday. - Media Release
Nashville will be without the services of Jason Arnott (upper body) for at least the first two games of their road trip. Forward Joel Ward (wrist) did not play Saturday against Anaheim and is questionable for tonight's game, but defenceman Francis Bouillon could be back in the lineup. He did not play Saturday after having flu-like symptoms. - Nashville Tennessean
The Flyers want more opinions on defenceman Ryan Parent's back problem because there is no consensus on what is wrong. The club thought it might be a bulging disk or a herniated disk, but the latest information seems to indicate it is neither. The Flyers say they are encouraged that Parent is getting better. - Philadelphia Inquirer
Defenceman Brooks Orpik, who got an unspecified injury early in the Penguins' 4-1 victory at Toronto Saturday, did not participate in an optional workout Sunday and is not expected to play tonight. The team is classifying him as "day to day." - Tribune Review
Evgeni Nabokov will get the start tonight, but coach Todd McLellan was noncommital as far as Tuesday night's second half of the back-to-backs in Phoenix. Manny Malhotra did not make the trip, but rookie John McCarthy was on the flight and is expected to play in his second NHL game tonight. - Contra Costa Times
The team is preparing to place Mikhail Grabovski on the long-term injury list, with Tyler Bozak expected to be recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) to take his spot. Head coach Ron Wilson noted that Rickard Wallin would not be on a line with Phil Kessel on Tuesday against Carolina. - TSN
Steve Bernier suffered a slight groin pull against Calgary on Saturday and is listed as day-to-day. Sami Salo (eye) is ready to return to the line-up. Ryan Johnson and Pavol Demitra took part in the morning skate and are both close to returning, possibly by the end of the week. - TSN

This Burrows / Auger referee contreversy is interesting. I hate Burrows, but he is right, non-calls thru the entire game, and you could see the ref talking to him before the game. Props on him standing up to the ref .

The NHL is looking into the matter and sources tell TSN that while Colin Campbell will be handling the investigation, commissioner Gary Bettman will be heavily involved in the process.
The Canucks forward could face discipline for making such strong allegations publicly.
...
"It was personal. It started in warmup, before the anthem," Burrows said of Auger's penalty calling. "(Auger) came over to me and he said I made him look bad in Nashville on the (Jerred) Smithson hit and he said he was going to get me back tonight."
