Forward Craig Conroy skated with the team on Tuesday and declared himself ready to go for Wednesday. Brent Sutter said an official decision on Conroy's status would be made on Wednesday. Conroy has missed the last five games with a lower body injury. Jamie Lundmark was assigned to the minors, while defenceman Staffan Kronwall was placed on waivers on Tuesday. - TSN

Erik Cole and Chad LaRose, who each has missed 15 games, are close to returning from injuries and are travelling with the team. Sergei Samsonov, out the last five games, also is on the trip and may play Thursday. - TSN
Dave Bolland took a big step-and skate-in his recovery from back surgery, hitting the ice Tuesday for the first time since the Nov. 10 procedure to repair a herniated disc that has plagued him for two seasons. Bolland said he is on track to play before the Feb. 15 Olympics break. He will continue skating and could begin practicing during the eight-game road trip, which begins Saturday in Columbus. - Chicago Sun Times

Nathan Horton (bumps and bruises), David Booth (concussion), Dmitry Kulikov (knee) and Kenndal McArdle (shoulder) all skated during the first 20 minutes of practice on Tuesday, but did not take any contact. Horton should be in the lineup against the Capitals on Wednesday while head coach Peter DeBoer said he does not have a timetable for when Booth would start taking contact in practice. Forward Sergei Kostitsyn has not been skating and will not play in games through this weekend. His ankle has not healed as quickly as expected and he remains day-to-day. - TSN
