TSN's Ice Chips

Saku Koivu suffered a sprained right knee on Thursday against Los Angeles. The diagnosis was confirmed after an MRI exam on Friday. Koivu is expected to be sidelined approximately 1-2 weeks. - Team Release

Defenceman Cam Barker, who has missed the last five games with an upper body injury, could return Saturday, according to head coach Joel Quenneville. - Daily Herald Times

Craig Anderson will start in goal on Saturday while defenceman Brett Clark will return to the lineup after missing nearly two weeks with a cheekbone injury. - Denver Post

Forwards Brenden Morrow and Jere Lehtinen left the Stars' game against the Detroit Red Wings with upper-body injuries on Saturday. Morrow went to the locker room late in the first period Saturday after blocking a shot. He played one shift in the second period before being ruled out for the third period. - AP

Ryan Stone was scratched from Saturday's game with a knee injury. Fernando Pisani and Gilbert Brule were both out with the flu. Shawn Horcoff returned to the lineup after missing the Pens game with the flu. - TSN

Defenceman Dmitry Kulikov said he is eager to get back on the ice after injuring his knee in December. Kulikov started practicing with his teammates Tuesday after beginning his skating training last week. Kulikov could be back next week. - Miami Herald

Center Dainius Zubrus has been skating for a few days and should rejoin the team for practice next week. Defenceman Paul Martin will almost certainly miss the Olympics after the decision to keep him off skates for another two weeks. - Star Ledger

Stars win over Detroit on what sounds like a similar goal to LA's goal.

While referee Rob Martell could be seen initially signaling no goal, he was blocked out as he got close to the net and consulted with referee Mike Leggo and linesman Lonnie Cameron, both of whom had the puck crossing the goal line. As a result, the call on the ice was that Ott's goal was good -- and when replays were inconclusive it stood. Patrick Eaves then missed the net on the Wings' final attempt.

Curry, in goal because regular backup Brent Johnson was already out with a lower-body injury, was beaten five times on 14 shots. He was replaced 4:29 into the second period by Alexander Pechurski, a 19-year-old Russian called up from junior hockey on an emergency basis and signed to an amateur tryout contract.

Pechurski stopped 12 of 13 while wearing Fleury’s pads, and was named third star. Not bad for a fifth-round draft pick who left Russia in late December and played the night before for Tri-City in the Western Hockey League.
