What grade would you give the trade that sent Giguere to Toronto for Blake & Toskala and why?

i voted b....i think its a good/bad for both teams......in our case blake is obviously overpaid but you never know how he will do when he suits up as a duck...also i think we could buy him out if need be due to us not really having any loyalties to him like JSG....toskala is a wash because he will be gone come july 1st so the way i see this trade is $6M for next year to sit on the bench or $4M over two years with some ability to contribute daily....i dont think you can really "win" a deal like this because you are going to be taking someone else's salary dump in return...

Don't want to. The trade is basically bitter-sweet.

C on the return. A on getting rid of Gigueres impossible contract.
Averages out to a B.

B-
Only reason we took on Tosk is a goalie swap/Cap and since he most likely wont be with us long, its a wash. The only benefit here is Blake and how much of a benefit is yet to be seen. We just traded away a piece of the Ducks Franchise, so that brings it down some.

If it was Jiggy for Toskala straight up i would have given it a C.
It was looking like we'd have to buy Jiggy out, so getting something ANYTHING in return and NOT having to pay him to play somewhere else is nice... getting two players?... even better.

I'll give it an "A" if I evaluate the trade only on an island of the deal itself. I don't think Bob could have done any better in terms of both moving Giguere's contract and limited his exposure on the bad contracts coming back (it could have been Jeff Finger).
However, if I'm not looking at it on the island of just the deal ...
I think the team has badly botched the goaltender situation and miserably lowered Giguere's value in the process. If Randy hadn't O'Donnelled JS, there's no telling where this team would be. The Ducks had the good sense to move Sean quickly when it was clear Carlye had designated him as the veteran whipping boy. They'd have gotten a better return on JS if the had made this move 14 months ago when Randy made the decision that Hiller was his guy.
Also, if Hiller is hurt or merely falters for a 3-5-game period, the Ducks are done this year. Giguere out and Toskala in is playing with fire.
Winning teams are built from the back end out. Over the past 10 months, the Ducks have gone 180 degrees opposite of that.
