D Andrew Ference, sidelined since the start of January with a groin injury, skated in the warmup on Saturday but did not suit up. He has been officially activated on the roster, while Mark Stuart (finger surgery) has been placed on IR. Ference might return on Sunday against Montreal. - Boston Globe
Tim Kennedy, who was minus-5 in the last two games, was a healthy scratch on Saturday in Columbus and Matt Ellis returned to the lineup. Steve Montador played just 2:32 before leaving with an undetermined injury following a second-period fight with Jared Boll. - Buffalo News
