I thought this was big enough news to deserve its own topic.

Richard Deitsch of SI broke the news on Twitter, and the news is good for hockey fans in the U.S.: The Team USA semifinal game on Friday against the winner of Czech Republic and Finland will be shown live to the entire nation, at 3 p.m. EST and noon PST.

We'd like to congratulate NBC on two fronts. First, for finding the last available seat on the Team USA bandwagon. Second, for coming to its senses regarding the idiocy of tape-delaying events held in the Pacific Time Zone to viewers in the Pacific Time Zone.

FINALLY!

NBC grows a brain and figures it out.

Probably figured out rating sag for delayed telecast. With the internet, texting gotta have in now society just about everyone knows the score before it even shown.

I could somewhat understand tape delay for other events. But hockey fans are used to not being able to watch all the games we want, and are very capable of finding online streams, up to the minute play by play, and just plain old scores. I still hate NBC. I'm with Coco...

NBC thought it would be interesting to see how many hockey fans in the Pacific Time Zone would actually go beserk enough to log on to a streaming feed in conjunction with all of the cable companies. Also, their plan was successful if you logged onto the stream because now they and the cable companies know that we hockey-mad fans on the left coast actually might just pay a premium not to pull our hair out when they pull this kind of stunt.

Nice going NBC.

I had to watch a bootlegged feed cause my cable company is a piece of crap and couldn't figure out how to get me logged in.

You may be lucky in that you now won't have to suffer through all of the cable blurbs on your email about how now they are offering Premium Pay Per View hockey games. wink.gif

And how weird is it that we pay for a cable company, a cable box, cable tiers, cable premium packages, extra boxes for the kids and granny, and they still have the unmitigated gall to call special events "Pay-Per-View"???!! blink.gif

Everyone else tries to nickle and dime us why not the cable companies? It's the American Way (Sacred Reich plug) after all. USA - USA - USA!!

As of right now, the Gold Medal game on Sunday is still scheduled to be delayed in the Pacific Time zone, according to the NBC Olympics website. Let's hope they change THAT as well....

It will probably only be on at noon if the US makes it. Otherwise, NBC doesn't much care.

NBC said several times during the broadcast

The Gold Medal game will be LIVE in EVERY time zone.

Sweet.

After more than two years, our church is getting a new pastor. His candidating sermon is this Sunday with a congregational meeting afterwards to vote yes or no (never seen anyone given a no vote). Then there is a luncheon.

Well, the new pastor is going to learn quickly that hockey is a priority, because the husband and I are taking separate cars. I plan on being home in time for the gold medal game and husband can vote on my behalf. The 12 year old will eat on my behalf. Win - win.

Not missing this one for nothing. OK, maybe Christ's second coming, but I have a feeling He would be respectful enough to at least wait until the game was over before reappearing. He's waited this long, a couple more hours won't matter much!

I hear he's a hockey fan too. He'll be upstairs watching it on a 60" HD.
