TSN's Ice Chips

The Bruins held an optional skate on Thursday. Newly acquired defenceman Dennis Seidenberg was on the ice. Still nursing his tweaked groin from the Olympics, Patrice Bergeron was on the ice alone on Thursday, testing the injury. He will not play tonight. Goaltender Tuukka Rask was not on ice this morning, which likely means he will start in goal against the Leafs. - TSN

Brent Sutter had a meeting on the ice for 10 minutes before Thursday's practice started. The Olympians; Iginla, Kiprusoff and Hagman, got the practice off. Jamie McLennan filling in for Kiprusoff. - TSN

Forward Zach Boychuk and defenseman Jay Harrison were recalled from Albany of the AHL, after the Hurricanes many many changes to their lineup on deadline day. - News Observer

John Madden and Brent Sopel were scratched on Wednesday night, a day after playing the Islanders in New York. Both battled injuries during the Olympic break. - Chicago Tribune

Milan Hejduk skated without pain Wednesday morning, but is still considered day-to-day with a back spasms. - Denver Post

The Blue Jackets activated defencman Mike Commodore off injured reserve. Commodore was injured in the game at St. Louis on January 30 and has missed seven games due to the injury. - Media Release

Defenseman Mark Fistric, who has missed five games with arthroscopic knee surgery, is expected to return to the lineup. Marty Turco will likely get the start with Kari Lehtonen making his Stars debut on Saturday. - Fort Worth Star Telegram

Wings forward Kirk Maltby will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery on Tuesday. - Detroit Free Press

Sheldon Souray is in hospital with a hand infection and will miss the rest of the season. Edmonton claims Ryan Jones on waivers from Nashville. - TSN

Carey Price will start for the Canadiens tonight against the Sharks. - TSN

Paul Martin (fractured left forearm) is still not able to shoot at full power, and will likely miss his goal of returning by March 10. - Bergen Record

Rick DiPietro is out indefinitely after experiencing swelling in his surgically repaired left knee in recent days. Andrew MacDonald is out 4-6 weeks with a fractured foot suffered Tuesday night. - New York Post

Marian Gaborik did not skate on Wednesday, and could miss tonight's game. Defenceman Michael Del Zotto will play after missing the two games. - New York Daily News

Pascal Leclaire will get his first start in goal since Jan. 12. ... Filip Kuba remains day-to-day with a lower body injury. - TSN

Ray Emery, who is suffering from avascular necrosis, is set to undergo surgery on his right hip and will miss the remainder of the season. - Burlington County Times

Newly acquired defenceman Mathieu Schneider has been placed on re-entry waivers on Thursday. - TSN
