No kidding.
Hitting either of those two above their shoulders is more of a knock on wood.
(but I do think that Whitney should be suspended)

Playing in only his fourth game as an Oiler on Thursday since being acquired from Anaheim at the trade deadline, Whitney took an Andrei Markov wrist shot off the right knee late in the second period of Edmonton's game against Montreal and hobbled off the ice.

...
“I wasn’t counted on as a guy to play against other teams’ top line, I was playing against the second line,” he said.
“They had Scottie Niedermayer there and last year they had Niedermayer and (Chris) Pronger.
“When Bob called me and told me I was traded, I was curious about it and he just said that it just wasn’t working. Those were his exact words. Take that however you want, but that was the situation there.”
These comments were made prior to tonight's game against Edmonton.

"He got to play in numerous situations. He got every opportunity in our minds to prove what he was worth. It wasn't a case of dumping Ryan Whitney. We had to spend a Ryan Whitney to get a Visnovsky. I don't look at that as anything more than it's a hockey trade."

Should have been with Brookbank all year, an actual stay-at-home d-man.
Whitney looked good last night.

agreed, but he certainly had some added motivation last night

True, but he seems to have been playing well for most of his time in Edmonton.

“It’s not like I wasn’t willing to adapt to this style of play,” he said. “I tried. I think there’s a lot of times where I moved the puck to the middle. We did that in Pittsburgh a lot. I kind of had that habit. He hated that. And I think it was more … you don’t want any coach to want to think you weren’t trying or weren’t being coachable.”

That's almost tragic to read.

I'm gonna love hearing the pro-Carlyle people defend him on this one.
