So I don't know if anyone caught that game where Tampa played Pittsburgh, but Pens fans almost had a heart attack when Malkin got hit by a slap shot in the foot, looking as if there was a good chance it was broken. However, x-rays were negative and it seems like Pens fans can thank the new skates he's been wearing called MLX skates. These customizable skates that currently, are only worn by NHL'rs but are set to enter the market in the near future, are uniquely designed to be superior to current skates out in the market, and one of its features is the ability to take the majority of a puck's impact, rather than the foot doing so, saving a players foot from breaking and possibly, a Stanley cup run for a team. Here's the link to an article about the skate saving Malkin.

Oh and also for those who want to check out the MLX site as well and learn more about what they are about.

The Penguins season may have been saved by a skate?
