With a lockout looming over the NHL, two high-profile players from one of the league's premier franchises are considering playing the season in the minors.

Dig Hasek wont play together with Joseph, because there from 2 different teams. Second of all I think it's a good idea hes going to do it, he needs to re-accuparate his ability and his strength.

Anyone can play in the AHL, they just have to clear waivers to get there from NHL teams. I think.
I like what one of the comments said on the bottem of that page:
A good point there.

WAIT A MINUTE...nhl Players going to the 'A' and europe leagues and taking a huge pay cut to do so. Doesn't that poke a giant hole in the NHLPA's side. If these guys are willing to take such a pay cut then WHY CAN'T THEY DO IT IN THE NHL!!!. Will whole teams be playing in the 'A'?
Maybe this could work? Lets punish the fans that have supported your lavish life style for years, in favor of some contived reasoning that no one in Canada or the US can figure out.

If the team is sending a player down for "conditioning" they don't have to clear waivers first.
I'm surprised this is allowed...I figured if you had an NHL contract, you wouldn't be able to play in the AHL either. Are the guys currently playing in the AHL gonna be bumped down to the ECHL to make way for these NHLers?

I think this sucks, Hasek and Spezza may well be robbing someone else of a chance to the play in the AHL. That's not fair on those players that have worked hard to get to that level, not everyone is good enough to go to the NHL. Some poor guy is going to lose out a chance because some spoiled brat has to make a mockery of the system. Urghhhhhhhhh I'm not impressed by this at all

Is this another sign of NHL season not starting?
