who cares ? wow really ?
Yes really!!! I don't give a good god damn. THIS world is not my home.
Do you really think we are going to be allowed to cause ourselves to become an extinct species?
tsk tsk tsk.
You are a sad, sad boy.
If it wasn't for the CBS, ABC or NBC evening news we'd probably never know that spill had happened.
Look UP, lad. Not down.
You can love this planet all you want, it ain't gonna make two hoots and a holler.

But even if they weren't and I bought into your religion, I believe the Bible is clear that we aren't here to rape (and I use this very strong word very advisedly) the planet but to be its stewards.

what right do we have to do this.
now regarding the planet and life its self.... life will live on this planet untill it is completely behond its own ability to heal its self... one day earth will cleanse it self of the cancer and live on with out humans.. there will be animals plants trees blue oceans..amazing clean air.
and do i care ? no i dont give a s* if we dont survive as a species because its our own fault. how about the 100's of thousands of species humans have directly caused to go extinct
i wont care about human species survival untill they start giving a s*t about the planets life, environment, eco systems.
and stop living life around greed
i care about the planet, in fact love my planet i love it like i love animals, i love it by respecting it
when i go on a hike i stop occasionally and reach down and put my hand on it... holding the earth saying my thanks to God for it.
He created her and she keeps us alive every day
for us only to try and kill her everyday
mother earth wont allow us to kill her

You make a very clear, honest statement about how we are raping our planet and I agree with you. We are arrogant, selfish, egomaniacal, self-centered, etc. Yes, I care, but I can't be worried over things of which I have no control. But, as I said before, THIS world is NOT my home. Take care of it the best I can, yes. I can only do somethings, not everything.
As for pie-in-the-sky, lets just say that I'm going to enjoy every crumb.
And Davison, the promise is not this blue marble we live on today (yes, we should steward her as best we can while here), the promise is a "new" earth. A better earth. You think I don't savor the view from my front yard? I drink in it's beauty every single day; sunshine, rain, snow, hail, doesn't matter, the view is awe inspiring.

After all we've done to our Earth, why would we even deserve another one?

as for the oil spill its just sad to see.. i have never been to the gulf but i would have loved to go... hell, just last month the UN reversed an earlier ruling made to protect several species of sharks. Asian countries re-opened the debate and got the ruling reversed. Way to go guys!

Sounds good to me. Human beings do have a lot to answer for
This incident in the Gulf of Mexico is worrying and the quicker it gets resolved the better IMHO.
Gulf oil spill: first leak capped, says BP
Oil is still gushing into the sea at a rate of about 800,000 litres a day, but officials say working with only two leaks makes tackling the spill easier.

THAT, my friend, is exactly the point. WE don't "DESERVE" a damned thing!
All we've seemed to do is exploit not steward. I can do my bit, sure. But that bit is only a thimblefull.
All of our (collective) efforts do what? Very little in the whole scheme of things.
Are we able to paint a rainbow in the sky? Are we able to dry up all the oceans? Are we able to cause animals and birds and reptiles to reproduce on an annual basis, some species more? We plant seeds in the ground, we fertilize them, nuture them, water them, but we can't MAKE 'em grow. I know. I have a notorious "black thumb" when it comes to gardening. Are we able to make a strong, tall ol' oak tree from a wee, tiny acorn? Can we control the wind? Yes, we can direct it, sometimes, but control it? Nope.

I'd heard the "I'm just one person, what can I do?" before, but I'd never heard the "all of us put together can't accomplish anything" is new to me. The fact is we can accomplish much when we put our efforts together.
We may not be able to paint a rainbow in the sky, but we sure as hell can make sure it's visible through the clean air we breathe. What do you think grows the seeds we plant? The seeds and the ground do. But if the ground is poisoned those seeds won't yield much. As Barmy posted we need to be careful about what kind of garbage we make and where we throw it.
You're changing the argument. Remember that your initial response to Davison was "I don't give a good god damn." You're not interested in the goodness of this Earth because you believe that you're going to heaven. With the track record of living on Earth I'd hate to see what humans would do to heaven after a while

Right on, Barmy!
And, DK, humans are not going to despoil heaven as we have done to this globe. We are going to be transformed beings able to see more clearly what is unseen now. This is only a way-station. Temporary.
As we agreed before, nothing I can say or do (or type) will clear up any questions you may have. You'll just have to experience it for yourself, IF you want to.
And yes, many of us co-operating together can accomplish much, but it's still going to be "not enough." "just a little too late." Like our Ducks, how often have we watched them bring it toward the end of the game, but it turns out to be "just a little too late."
Further, the original disagreement was between Davison and me, two alledged christians, not any butt-in-ski.

But not even that, if we take your strain of reasoning, absolves you from being responsible for the home you now inhabit
So, YOU want ME to dis-believe that there is not a caring God? Based on what? YOUR dis-belief?
Sorry, mon ami, I can not do that.
You view the world negatively, from what I read, not positively.
I had polio AND spinal meningitis at the same time. I was seven.
My parents were told to prepare for the worst. I'm still here.
I could have drowned in the Sacramento River on a scout outing, I'm still here.
Another scouting adventure in the Sierra Nevadas that could have proved disasterous, I'm still here.
There was a humungous flood in Morocco when I lived there, I'm still here.
I've experienced lightning bolts coming into the plane I was traveling in go into one wingtip and out the other while moving from Morocco back to the US, you think I wasn't frightened? I am still here.
I've been in a couple of vehicle wrecks that the first responders thought I was dead, I'm STILL here.
And YOU want ME to dis-believe in God? In His existance?
I don't think so, mon ami! Not in MY lifetime nor in YOURS.
But it's not all about ME is it? I'm just a fortunate, undeserving recipient of God's grace.
"Religion" is man-made, my friend. A relationship with God, Messiah, comes from personal experience.
I chat with Him everyday. He mostly listens, that's what good friends do for one another. They listen!
He's just not a member on Facebook or ALLDUCKS, well, not a "registered" member anyway, But ...
YOU are gonna miss me when I AM gone. And I'm not going to be able to tell you whether I was right or wrong.
Only Y'Shua can do that, because HE LIVES. I know that my redemer lives. And I put MY trust in that fact.
Call me a fool. Call me an ignorant so and so. Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for supper.
And DTP what a wonderful interlude to this discussion. It IS indeed a wonderful world. We (most of us) (or at least the ones who hold corporate interest channeling either for or against) just can't seem to get our hands dirty trying to take care of it.

However, don't expect me to take seriously that the Almighty God you believe in chooses to spare some (you, in your example) and sit by idly while millions die daily and the planet goes to hell in a handbasket

But, I'm not in a debating mood right now. I've just learned that my eldest daughter had two cousins murdered in Hawaiian Gardens this morning, an Aunt and Uncle are in critical condition in one of hospitals down there. Apparently one of the cousin's ex-boyfriend flipped out and went to the home with an AK-47 and opened fire. Now, why did God let this happen to a very loving family? I don't know! What I DO know is that my (and theirs too) saviour lives and the cousins are with Him now. I also know that something good will come from this tragic incident.
Next time He comes back to this planet, I assure you, He ain't coming as a carpenter.

No worries, sweetheart. There's really nothing to say. She just asked me to pray for everyone closely tied to this, even, my ex-wife.
What can I say? S* happens in this life, but life goes on.
I appreciate your's and DK's sentiments and probably every one else who are speechless at the moment.
I LOVE this community. We may fight and argue and debate things, as most families do, but I do believe that underneath all the drama we genuinely care about and for one another.
