IMO not really. He is a big body with solid hands. He took a step back last season but I hoped the Ducks will sign him. If he puts it all together he will be a good piece in the future. IMO he is the player that has to play with Getzlaf and Perry. He has the size and the skill, although his skillset is not top level.

i was optimistic about him before this year.....but he did nothing to warrant getting signed.....it's purely a gamble on his potential

Is this the second coming of Bobby Bolt?
That is probably not fair. We need to let him play and see if he can rise to an NHL potential. However, I am not optimistic.

confirmed by the ducks LINK
And their announcement starts out: "The Ducks announced on Friday...."
Last Friday, or tomorrow?
I have a feeling that the efficiency of CapGeek forced them to announce earlier than expected.....

well bobby bolt didn't really have much talent......Brittain has talent but he didn't do what was expected of him, the ducks probably signed him on the cheap though

CapGeek says $560k for the first year, and $585 for the last two. I don't know what "league minimum" is anymore, but it isn't much less than that.
Hey, you have to fill an AHL team, and signing a guy who COULD become an NHL player is better than signing a known career AHLer....
