Sad day to be a Ducks fan.

Thanks Scott, there's a banner in Anaheim and Rings on Teemu & Jiggy's fingers because of you

Scott Niedermayer is expected to formally announce his retirement at a press conference this afternoon.

"tweeted" by Darren Dregger, who I am told is reliable.

Well thanks for everything Scott, you helped bring a Cup to ANA and were a great role model for so many on the team. You will be missed.

He sure did and now that very small Defensive FA market should be the one and only concern of Bob

Well... on the bright side... we have an extra $6.5mil so Wiz and Bobby should be easier to sort out...

I don't think so.

I don't mean to get off topic, but Murray should have signed Wiz BEFORE Scott announced his retirement.

You think Teemu is gonna wait until AFTER we react to this move? I sure hope not.

No I think he will wait until they tell him what our plans are... maybe they already have.

Doubtful. Selanne has asid he will play if the team remains competitive and doesnt go into a rebuild. I think the bigger factor is what actions the Ducks take to replace Scotty that will determine Teemu's future.

Thank you for bringing a Cup to Anaheim, Scotty. Still I feel like this was, unfortunately, one year too late because you couldn't keep up to the high standards you set yourself in the past season.

And now it should only take a maximum of 48 hours to a) re-sign Bobby and cool.gif see what Selanne does.

Bummer.

Now it's up to Murray to put together a blue line that can play.

Dude, seriously? The guy carried a defunct blue line, and you're going to bring him down on the day he's going to retire?

Yes, seriously. And why not? Scotty played awful last season and I've said it before already: He wasn't himself at all last year. The part about him carrying a defunct blue line...well, you do know the saying about how the one-eyed man is king among the blind, right?

Sad day for Ducks.
Thanks for all the great memories!
But at the same time I am glad he is finally retired so we can move on to the next great chapter in Ducks history.
I just hope Murray can make a move at the draft to get us a Kaberle or another 1 or 2 guy so we can get back in the game and hopefully Teemu will see that we are serious in competing. I can imagine losing Scott, Teemu and Saku in one week! ARHH. Scary!

well... now it's more likely that Teemu and Saku won't come back next year, so I guess it's rebuild time. With the shallow FA dmen pool this year, I don't see us having a decent D next year.

Anyways, congratulations for a wonderful career, Scotty.
