So, now that Scotty has made it official who do you think will be the next Duck to take the C?

I know Getzlaf seems like the obvious choice as this team is built around him and Perry, but is he ready yet? Will Carlyle make him earn it? Will Selanne wear it for a season if he returns until Getz shows he's up to the task?

If Koivu is signed to a multi-year deal then he should get the C. Last season he showed why he is worthy of it with his leadership and steadiness. Getzlaf and Perry I don't see either getting the C quite yet. Maybe the team should go without a C if there are no viable candidates.

The void that Scotty leaves with the C will be pretty hard to fill.

Koivu gets the 'C' if he comes back. Getz gets it if Koivu doesn't come back. Marchant gets an 'A'.

If Koivu is back then Him, if not then Marchant. Selanne won't take the C so forget it. Getzlaf will most likely get it if Koivu doesn't return.

i would give Selanne the C in a heartbeat but know how he feels about it and i respect that.....its time to give this team getz....i think he is going to have a great year and last year i think he was hurt for a long portion of the season

He may be a talented player and may work hard, but is he really ready to handle that responsibility? He's a bit hotheaded and a captain can't be that way. This is just a decision that will have to have much thought put into it. I still think that someone more of a veteran should get the "C."

Scotty is the perfect example of what a captain should be. Irreplaceable he is.

My honest opinion:

Resign Koivu

Koivu = C
Bobby = A
Marchant = A

Stir it up a bit... motivate Getzlaf to strive for something.

I'd give Teemu an A, but he has said he doesn't want it.



Also...I just realized that we only really saw Lubo for a small portion of the season... so his presence may reduce the impact of the loss of Scott a bit more than I think some of us may be accounting for.

Getzlaf was coming off surgery last season and then hurt his ankle... so I tend to give him a little space before calling him lazy.

When first given the "C", Teows wasn't ready to be Captain, nor was Crosby... but by the end of the season their was no doubt. Getzlaf is the cornerstone of the franchise... I say give it to him and let him grow into it. Challenge him...
