Boasting one of the most complete résumés in the history of the game, Anaheim Ducks defenceman and Canadian hockey legend Scott Niedermayer has retired from NHL competition.
The 18-year veteran made it official Tuesday, finally hanging up his skates after several flirtations since 2007. Niedermayer leaves with four Stanley Cup rings, two Olympic gold medals, and a reputation as one of hockey’s greatest champions.
“Today, I’m 100 per cent committed to retirement,” he said. “I could not have dreamed of such an amazing journey.”
