Hello,

So recently a family friend has been telling my family about the Power Balance Silicone Wristbands. This is what their website says...

QUOTE
What is Power Balance?

Power Balance is Performance Technology designed to work with your body’s natural energy field. Founded by athletes, Power Balance is a favorite among elite athletes for whom balance, strength and flexibility are important.

QUOTE
How does the hologram work?

Power Balance is based on the idea of optimizing the body’s natural energy flow, similar to concepts behind many Eastern philosophies. The hologram in Power Balance is designed to resonate with and respond to the natural energy field of the body.

Now, I was wondering if anyone here wears one or ever has. I'm very skeptical, but the family friend is adamant they work wonders. My family has a history of back pain and I've been told them help promote a better overall feeling for the person wearing them. The other reason I'm posting here is because I know Teemu is a sponsor for Power Balance and wears them. He has a video on their website for them (along with other athletes and such). There was also an article done by the OC Register that says they have never paid for a commercial or endorsement or anything.

So does anyone have any inside or personal information from use with them? I want to think it's a hoax, but I believe the family friend and I also don't think Teemu would sell himself out for something he didn't truly believe in. Anyways, I was just curious.

Thanks! ots.gif

lol i did a little research after i found out that Teemu has bought those for entire finnish team and wants to represent the product in Finland...
idk though...
youtube it. there are vids how seemingly inflexible unbalanced people suddenly overcome those shortcomings... i'm a bit hesitant to believe though...

Yeah I've done some research and seen some videos such as those, but I still find it hard to believe. Maybe I'm too skeptical. But I thought it was odd that Teemu wears one, and then tries to get all his teammates to wear one. I just don't know. I was hoping some people had first hand experience with them.

They are super popular in the youth hockey community in so Cal...

I've seen some simple demos...

no bracelet - kid on one foot - push him over... Bracelet - kid on one foot - VERY HARD to push him over.

now you'd think psychosomatic, I certainly did at first... but I've also seen it done when the kid didn't know what the bracelet was supposed to do.

Not saying it works... it seems like hocus pocus... and i'm no expert on sports physiology or eastern mystic studies... but it SEEMS to work.

My son will be wearing one when the season starts in the fall wink.gif (I figure even if its psychosomatic, it still has a positive effect)

Good to know. As HillerGirl pointed out, he got them for Team Finland. He must be a real believer.

And Parros most certainly could use one. He should look in to it! Hahahaha ots.gif

Yeah. They are a bit pricey, but the family friend swears by it. He says it's more than just for balance. He and his wife feel they make him feel better with less general body achyness and pain.

There's something very important I forgot to tell you.

What?

Don't cross the streams.

Why?

It would be bad.

I'm a little fuzzy on the whole "good/bad" thing, here. What do you mean, "bad"?

Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

That's bad. OK, all right, important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Hocus pocus is how it strikes me, too, Todrick. ... and yet, one of the dads on my son's team last season wears one and swears up and down by it.

It's so hard to argue with results - and, frankly, psychosomatic is fine by me, too.

That and a protracted contract dispute. Very no bueno.

Yeah I saw that one yesterday but didn't have time to get on here at the time. Very, very interesting... I still want to get one I think. Now if I can afford $30... Hmmm...

Bands on appendages have been used for centuries for performance enhancement.

Some stand out, others don't.

Just pointing that out. cocktail.gif

There's some online coupon codes for Power Balance you can try that will knock off at least $5.

That's as bad as buying stupid mouse ears you can only wear at an overrated theme park.

LOL Yes! He should do the whole Karate Kid thing balancing on a boat and post in full gear, or he could take up yoga.

or for even more funny visuals he could do ballet. Hey, Fedorov's mom was a ballet dancer, so I guess it works.

As for the overpriced bands I'll never buy one. I enjoy bumping into things. lol
