This just announced by the Ducks. Sounds like a great chance for us SoCal fans to see some of the Ducks top prospects in person:

QUOTE
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club will host its annual prospect summer conditioning camp from July 5-11, 2010. A total of 31 prospects will participate in both on-ice and off-ice workouts at THE RINKS - Anaheim ICE.

Fans and media are invited to attend the camp’s three open scrimmage sessions at Anaheim ICE on Tuesday, July 6, Thursday, July 8 and Saturday, July 10, all beginning at 6 p.m.
.
.
.
Below is a list of the prospects scheduled to attend the 2010 conditioning camp:

CENTER:
Bonino, Nick
Da Costa, Stephane
Deschamps, Nicolas
Holland, Peter
Macenauer, Maxime

Mitera, Mark
Newton, Jake
Schultz, Justin
Stephens, Evan

Interesting that they would have Dan Sexton at this. Hasn't he played enough in the NHL to be beyond this? If he's invited, why not Luca Sbisa?

This is enough reason to go...

CENTER:
Bonino, Nick
Sharp, MacGregor

RIGHT WING:
Etem, Emerson
Palmieri, Kyle
Sexton, Dan

DEFENSEMAN:
Fowler, Cam
Gardiner, Jake

GOALIE:
Pielmeier, Timo

everyone else is a bonus...

I especially want to see how Gardiner has progressed and how silly his skating makes everyone else on the ice look.

I'd add Peter Holland in there for my list of "to-see" players. I am curious how close to being NHL ready he is and have never seen him play in person.

Since it's a "conditioning camp", I have a feeling it all has to do with Sexton building his body to NHL acceptable standards. He was in danger of being sucked into the ceiling vents last season. smile.gif

I'll be there on tuesday night for the scrimmage... any one know if the practices during the day are open to the public? They were last year.

According to the OCR Blog:

QUOTE
About 31 Ducks prospects will take part in the seven-day camp, but note that only three scrimmages are open to the public: Tuesday (July 6), Thursday (July 8) and Saturday (July 10), each starting at 6 p.m.

Any theories on why Luca Sbisa is not involved in this? Does this mean that the Ducks already consider him a lock to make the NHL team in the fall or am I reading too much into it?

Don't know....Could be a simple thing like a family wedding that he got permission to attend...

Question from me, though: Have the NCAA players been this well represented in the past, (Gardiner, Schultz, Palmieri, etc.) I seem to recall that they don't usually attend since they have to finance it themselves. But maybe I'm thinking of training camp proper.

Thanks everyone!

Hoping to meet some people in the future!

but it's interesting that we only have two goalies attending the Camp. I think we had more goalies in Prospect in 2008, but I could be wrong. That was a couple years ago can't completely remember off the top of my head.

Pielmeier and Cousineau are going to be there. I'd wonder if there's anything particular for players to attend this?

I know we will only have one goalie for the 2010-2011 season playing overseas after the London Knights drafted Igor Bobkov in the Import Draft.

Very interested to see how Wagner looks, I have heard he has alot of talent but is risky due to the league he played in, thats a stacked roster, if any of you get out there please post what you see from him. Kevin Lind was once very highly touted he has great size interested to see how he does as well. Gardiner and Fowler should having skating contests those two I look forward to hearing most about

New Syracuse Crunch coach Mark Holick and assistant Mike Stapleton are going to Anaheim next week to help out with the Ducks' prospect summer conditioning camp camp.
...
"It should be interesting,'' Holick said Friday. "It should be a chance for us to meet some of the guys who end up in Syracuse, work with them a little bit.''

Holick said he expects to have his family moved to Syracuse by the end of August.

Not sure if there's any restriction to photography. I don't believe training camp had any restrictions last year, so I'm assuming there's none or not very much for this year.

I'm assuming you're talking about DSLR cameras with professional lenses?

Unlike Honda Center or any other rink. It's free for all. No credentials required. smile.gif

No restrictions on photos as long as they are for personal usage only. No photos can be sold or used in a professional capacity without ok from the Ducks media staff.

I'm pretty sure the day-time practices are closed to public. I remember they were open last year, but at least we get more scrimmages. Ill be there tonight.

If I recall correctly, a lot of the first day stuff is off ice, same as for regular training camp. Weigh in, measurements, physical assessments, a lot of instruction on nutrition, proper training, expectations, etc. And that is not open to the public. Not sure if there are other practices going on. If so, they aren't publicized, just the scrimmages.

Oh yes, that too.

Due to licensing and copyright laws. (That's another reason why places like Honda Center/Angels Stadium have limits on cameras (for non-professional) and require credentials, if you want to be close to the ice/field and are in procession of a Nikon/Canon/etc,with pro lenses, etc. Anyways that doesn't relate to AI prospect camp, really.)

but yes, as MrsBevo said, as long as they're not sold with out the sole consent of the Anaheim Ducks organization and possibly the league. Usually, there are people hired to sit on their computers all day looking for illegal selling activity (in this case, selling photos without the consent of the organization

Anyways, I'll be there with a friend tonight. I'll be wearing my USA Bobby Ryan jersey
