That's a joke, right? First we ship out Brown for basically nothing, then we waive Carter and we bring in another bottom six player? WTF?

He maybe Syracuse bound...

(Moving my post from the "Rumors" thread):

Ok....I'm confused.

I assumed Jaffray and Voros were going to fight for the LW spot opened up by Brown's trade. What's the point of having another LW signing? Doesn't seem to be a Syracuse need since we are pretty deep at LW in the minor leaguers (Bordson, Brittain, Hillier, McCue, McMillan, Sharp...some are also Centers).

And it doesn't seem to help given our over abundance of bottom 6 guys to begin with!

Just confusing all around.

From my "Spreadsheet that never forgets":

Josh Green wore #12, and was signed for $525,000 per year for the Ducks when he played in 5 playoff games in 2009.

Guess they liked him as a veteran influence when he was Iowa.

But all of the trouble we've had with Left Wings at the NHL level is mirrored by an absense of Right Wings in the minors. We ain't got none...unless Sexton goes to Syracuse. Maybe Mr. Green is flexible.....

maybe he rather be in North America at the ahl level (close to family) then play in Sweden. if that's the case, good veteran pick up for the crunch.

murray is making some bizzare choices as it seems at the moment. Ive given him to the beggining of the season to see what our roster looks like opening night, there is still a huge amount of time for trades, signing etc....

but at the moment by not having bobby signed up by now im more worried than confident in murrays ability as a GM. Im rather confused as to why no other team has tried offering Ryan a contract yet? :S

It's entirely possible he's trying to grab an asset to help create a package for a trade. If Murray wants to deal for a top 4 defenseman, he has to give up something. Someone like Green won't add much value, but it might be the difference between holding on to someone like Bodie or Chipchura and having to them give them.

I don't think we'll see all of Bordson, Hillier and Brittain in the AHL the entire year. McCue can probably play the RW and Josh Green can play C and perhaps RW as well. Considering we don't have the same depth as we did two years ago, Green could be among the first call ups if there are injuries in the bottom six.

If no more forwards are brought in:

Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry
Blake - Koivu - Selanne
Beleskey - Marchant - Lupul
Bodie - Chipchura - Parros
(Voros, Jaffray)

...Carter traded at a later point when teams will look to fill their last spots. Well unless Blake or Lupul is traded or Teemu retires, then Carter might have a spot.

I've been reading this board for a couple of years now, but have been active on HFboards for a long time. So it feels weird to be the new guy smile.gif

My guess is we will see more Voros than Bodie pairing with Parros. There are also some pretty big question marks with Selanne and Lupul, not to mention Ryan. I dont think we will be seeing those lines this year. To me Green doesnt make it onto the team, just plays down in Syracuse or we see him in a trade of some sort.

You know things are slow on the Hockey front when this story actually makes the top stories on ESPN....

I don't think that there is anything strange at all about Murray's recent depth signings. Green, Voros, and Jaffray will be strong additions to a new Syracuse team. The Ducks will want to have success in the first year at Syracuse, especially given the recent AHL difficulties. And there might be a new ECHL team as well. Nothing establishes a working relationship better than winning. Furthermore, it creates competition and quality for the bottom six forwards.

You see Voros going to SYR? I can see Green and Jaffray going there, just seems to me Voros will be a 4th liner/scratch player.... Not bad depth signings just seems like alot of forwards.

I believe Voros is a one way contract, so I don't expect to see him in Syracuse at all.
