We've been talking about the best players and making our team today but who is the best individual Duck? goducks1ux5.gif

It's impossible for me to pick just one Duck or former Duck. I've met many of the guys. Even if they weren't the best player they were still really nice men w/hearts of gold.

This is a 2-man race between Teemu and Scott, IMO.

Teemu is my all-time favorite, but I think I have to go with Scotty.

i say Teemu edges out Scot.
hey both are good... heck, they are AWESOME.
shoe in HHoFers
but
Teemu is much more personable and he has a longer tenure than Scotty...
so for me a hair ahead (and don't forget Teemu's hair!!! laugh.gif ) is The Flash.

Hard to argue with that.

Giguere is way ahead of your #3. JS won a Cup and a Conn Smythe. What'd did PAB ever win?

Not for me...
And Js didnt just win us the cup you have to add the best D in the league and Bryz stepping in bigtime during times during the season and playoffs. I honestly did not care for jiggy after the lockout. 03' was amazing but he was always #2 to me behind Hiller and Bryz. To be honest I think if Bryz and Hiller were our tandem when we won the finals instead of Jiggy I think the Ducks still win the finals.
Kariya also helped bring one of the worst teams in the NHL to the finals and gave me my favorite all time Ducks moment in game 6 when he got hit by Stevens and came back out and scored.
I can see why Jiggy would be in the top 3 for people he just isn't for me. Kariya was THE DUCK for many years and was a huge part in me falling in love with the sport and the Ducks. Jiggy did not do that.

Fair enough. But to be clear, I didn't say Giguere WON US a Cup. I said he won a Cup. I don't agree that a Hiller/Bryz tandem does that. Despite having that D in front of him, JS was huge - especially in the games Pronger was suspended and Gm 2 of the SCF.

O defenitely, I cant argue with that. You obviously need a goalie to win

Yes. At one point the debate was 1 player deep - and that was your guy. The franchise has come a long was from '93

Teemu, definitely. Hopefully, he gets another season to ingrain himself further into greatness, with say 40 more goals.

Shane Hnidy
Ian Moran

ohhhh wait.. read this wrong.

Teemu, Scotty and Jiggy.
Honorable mentions to Pronger, Kurri (looking at overall NHL careers for both these guys) and Fedorov. Sergei may not have played his best hockey as a Duck, but his NHL Career is chalk full of great accompishments.

Edit: gotta throw Oates on that list too. Not many games as a Duck, sure, but again, great numbers. Too bad he never hoisted the cup

No doubt it is Teemu. He's been the longest-serving player for the Ducks iirc, he has scored the most goals, assists, points (both regular season and playoffs afaik), had a big media presence and helped establish the franchise in Anaheim. If it wasn't for that trade to get Selänne back in the day, I think there would not have been a team in Anaheim by 2000.

Future candidates are looking great, though: If Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Gardiner and Fowler were to stay with the Ducks for the majority of their careers (read: 10+ years), they might very well give Teemu a hard time defending the #1 position.

Teemu hands down. A lot of class shown over the years for the organization, the fans, his team mates, and his country.
