At the World Junior Championships in Buffalo, NY, Etem tweeted about Buffalo being a "Ghost town". He has since apologized for his poor choice of words.

Me neither, but some people in Buffalo got a little pissed. But I believe Etem, Buffalo sounds boring.

Just released from the Ducks:

QUOTE
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing Emerson Etem to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

A native of Long Beach, California, Etem scored 45-35=80 points with a +41 rating and 24 penalty minutes (PIM) in 65 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season. Etem, 18 (6/16/92), finished tied for fifth among WHL leaders in goals and tied for eighth in plus/minus. He also led the WHL in shorthanded goals (9) and tied for 12th in power play goals (15). Among team leaders, Etem ranked second in points and goal scoring, and first in power play goals and plus/minus. In 15 WHL Playoff games, Etem added 10-11=21 points to finish 10th among league leaders.

While this probably does not mean he will make the team this fall it does give the team the option to have him in the NHL for 9 or 10 games before sending him back to juniors. It also means that as soon as he is ready for the AHL he can report to Syracuse and if he, by some chance, is ready for the NHL this October then he's ready to go. Good signing by the Ducks and it gives them plenty of options with Etem going forward.

I dont see him as a Duck next year but this does look good for the future. I believe his age is keeping him from the AHL right now so I would expect to see him with the Crunch as soon as age permits.

The contract contains a $900,000 NHL salary which has a $90,000 bonus factored in and a $67,500 American Hockey League salary for each of the three years.
...
Apparently, the process on Etems end took only an hour as he signed the contract after going over with it with King, his mother, Patricia, and Venice-based trainer, T.R. Goodman.

It was pretty crazy, Etem said. I wasnt really expecting it to happen this quick. Im pretty excited. Pretty stoked.

Great news...Emerson should be ready for NHL from 12/13...maybe he can play few games in next season and go back to WHL, but in the future he should be great replace for Teemu clapping.gif

Buffalo is a ghost town that time of year. University students go on break and anyone who can leaves at that time. I don't really understand why they were upset. He handled it well but will probably still be booed whenever he plays there.

"Their first line did almost half the scoring," Etem said. "I'm a goal scorer. I'm going to do everything it takes to crack the roster and help them out. In my mind I'm the guy to do it. I'm going to thinking that, come training camp."

In almost the same breath Etem says it would be no problem to return to The Hat, the way Bobby Ryan kept going back to Owen Sound.

I'm convinced that within three years we'll have a very nice second line based around Peter Holland and Emerson Etem. I can't wait to see those guys make the jump to the NHL.

Go to 48 seconds. That is the worst punch I think I have ever seen. Looked like a punch being thrown in a baseball fight ots.gif I know Etem really shouldn't be fighting anyways, but that was pretty bad.

ETEM WATCH: With 1 G, 2 A for Medicine Hat last night, #NHLDucks prospect Emerson Etem has 13 G, 4 A in 8 GP. Has at least 1 G in every game.
Just wait til he hits the NHL.
