At the World Junior Championships in Buffalo, NY, Etem tweeted about Buffalo being a "Ghost town". He has since apologized for his poor choice of words.

Me neither, but some people in Buffalo got a little pissed. But I believe Etem, Buffalo sounds boring.

Buffalo is a ghost town that time of year. University students go on break and anyone who can leaves at that time. I don't really understand why they were upset. He handled it well but will probably still be booed whenever he plays there.

"Their first line did almost half the scoring," Etem said. "I'm a goal scorer. I'm going to do everything it takes to crack the roster and help them out. In my mind I'm the guy to do it. I'm going to thinking that, come training camp."

In almost the same breath Etem says it would be no problem to return to The Hat, the way Bobby Ryan kept going back to Owen Sound.

I'm convinced that within three years we'll have a very nice second line based around Peter Holland and Emerson Etem. I can't wait to see those guys make the jump to the NHL.

Just wait til he hits the NHL.

Jr's and NHL are a big difference. He did not a have a good camp and looked really out of place in the one preseason game i saw him in. Good for him though, he'll be with the club in time and a key player.

Do you think he'll make the jump straight from the WHL to the NHL? Or will he need one season in the A?

I don't really know where to post this, but I hope we are interested in drafting Hunter Shinkaruk (Etem's linemate) in 2013. He and Etem have put up big numbers. Maybe they could be linemates again in Anaheim one day!

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound winger is the hottest player in the Western Hockey League as of late, scoring an outstanding 20 goals and 27 points in his last 15 games.

"Hard work has been paying off," says Etem. "It starts in the off-season with working on stops and starts and improving my straight-ahead speed. I just continue to work on my speed and skating and that makes it hard for other teams to stop me."
...
This is Etem's last season of junior hockey. He will move on to the Ducks organization next year. It's definitely a possibility that he could spend next season with their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, but his elite skill and speed will help him make a strong case at training camp for him to stay with the big club.

"I got cut the last two years and it was disappointing," says Etem. "It makes me want to make the team next year that much more. I think I'm ready for the NHL. It will be their decision, but I'm going to go to camp in great shape and be motivated to make the team."
