Here's what I'd like to see happen:

Selanne re-ups for another year.

Hiller is back to his old self.

Brooks Laich, Jussi Jokinen or Ville Leino are signed to form a second line with Bobby or Corey.

Marchant retires and becomes an assistant coach.

Young guys - MacMillan, Palmieri, Holland, Beleskey- are plugged into spots on the top three lines.

Ruutu, Winchester/Parros, and Bonino make up the fourth line.

Getz-Perry/Ryan-MacMillan
Laich/Holland-Ryan/Perry-Beleskey/Palmieri/Jokinen/Leino (two vets and one young guy)
Koivu-Selanne-Blake
Bonino-Parros-Ruutu/Winchester

Lydman-Visnovsky
Sbisa-Fowler
Beauchemin-Brookbank
Sutton

(the d seems set - i don't know that they can trade Sutton, maybe in a package)

Hiller
Ellis

They need to be more effective 5 on 5, and they need to be more offensively capable than just one line, one winger, and the PP.

LOL, this just sounds like you don't want to sound like a bad person wishing him into retirement...

And are you sure Koivu is in his final year Newbie? Or am I reading that wrong?

Considering that the thread is for the 2011-12 season, yes. The 2011-12 season is the final year of his contract.

Is it his "final year"....well, who knows. smile.gif

Same logic, (or lack of logic), applies to all of my comments. "Including the 2011-12 season, this is how many years they have on their current contract...."

What's with Petri Kontiola? He is one of the best centers in the KHL...He played very well in Magnitogorsk...maybe we should bring him to Anaheim and try in the third line...

For me the best attacking line and possible line are:

RPG
Jussi Jokinen - Koivu - Selanne
Blake- McMillan - Beleskey (Palmieri)
Ruutu - Konopka - Parros

You didnt mention Kontiola in any of your lines. Does that mean that you really dont want him? According to you lines you only want to add Jokinen in FA? What do you want to do with Winchester?

I think that Kontiola is good enough to play regularly in the third line, but I don't believe we will get him a chance and I don't know will he want try play overseas one more time...so that lines are the most possible for me...In the summer we should sign Jussi Jokinen (quite young, not very expensive and good offensive guy) and Konopka (new 4th line center)...I don't think we need both Wincheter and Ruutu, we should chose one of them...I prefer Ruutu (good PK)...Winchetser is useless...I think that Bob made a mistake when he acquired him and trade Lapierre, who plays very well in Vancouver....Kariya? Why not, especially if he helps convience Teemu, but I don't believe he will be healthy enough to play, we can sign him but only if Blake will retire...with both of them our team will be to old...I believe in Plamieri, maybe he will be surprise as McMillan in 10/11 season...

Updated first post with Iiro Tarkki's contract. Total contracts in place for next year grows to 32 of 50.....and we have a boatload of goaltenders in the system.

- Added Etem's contract to the list. Numbers are preliminary for now, since performance bonuses haven't been reported, but I would expect a 1st rounder to have them. CapGeek does not have the contract details yet.

- Adjusted the cap hits for Bobkov, Holland, and Smith-Pelly, as calculated by CapGeek, due to their ELC slip. (Essentially, the signing bonuses paid last year fall out of the equation, and their cap hits drop slightly).

looks like the cap is going up $2.9 million for next season. So that may help with adding a dman to play with Fowler.

Per OCR Ducks Blog, Valentine and Warg rights expire because no contract could be agreed to. Their rights are lost to the Ducks, and they return to the rookie draft.

So, I did the math - I think it's correct!

Goalies - unchanged (Hiller and Ellis)
$6,000,000

Dmen - unchanged (Vis, Lydman, Fowler, Beauch, Sbisa, Sutton, Brookbank)
$18,850,000

Forwards
Getz, Perry, Ryan, Koivu, Blake, Parros, Beleskey, McMillan, Palmieri, Bonino ($100,000 raise), and Chipchura ($100,000 raise)
$24,935,700

If the cap goes up to $62.3 mill (a $2.9 mil increase),
then they have about 12,514,300 in cap space to sign Selanne and a UFA center or winger (Laich, Jokinen, Fleischmann, Vrbata, Connolly, Leino, Zherdev, Miettinen, Svatos, Talbot, Kopecky, Bergenheim - all of those guys are 30 years old or younger, and made $3 mil or less last season).

That's easily doable. They could afford Selanne and Richards for that amount (with no internal cap....). They could also easily afford Selanne and Bieksa, if they went for a dman instead of a forward, and bring up a young forward like Smith-Pelly or play Brookbank as a fourth line forward.

May have gone unnoticed....

But Zimmerman and Guenin have been signed to new contracts. 1 year for Zimmerman, 2 years for Guenin. Both 2-way deals.

Fills some slots on the AHL team.

Changes have been made to the team roster on the first page.

Just did a minor clean-up of some players I've been carrying that probably don't need to be.

The current Ducks website carries a very good list of players, both on the roster, and "in the system". The following players don't appear on any list, and that's good enough for me to indicate either their rights have expired, or the Ducks have no future plans for them:

- Vaive: Recent NCAA grad, and believe his rights expired as of July 1st
- Kontiola: In the KHL, and either expired rights, or defected player. Likely no future Ducks plans.
- Wirtanen: In Finland, and either expired rights, or defected player. Likely no future Ducks plans.
- Stefaniszin: In Germany. 2007 draftee, and rights probably expired. Likely no future Ducks plans.
- Zaborsky: In Finland, and either expired rights, or defected player. Likely no future Ducks plans.
- Ruutu: Unsigned UFA.
- Winchester: Unsigned UFA.
- Emery: Unsigned UFA. Invited to Chicago camp.

The player list should be ready for training camp! (With exception of one fairly well known Finnish player......)

Moderators:

You can probably unpin, (and bury), this thread.

It's still stuck in the middle of free agency LAST YEAR. I didn't do any updating, because frankly, CapGeek should be the gold standard for everyone to follow.

I certainly don't intend to do a similar thread this year....(Someone else can grab it and run with it if they feel the urge).
