The Ducks signed defenseman Nate Guenin to a two-year contract extension through the 2012-13 season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Good depth. Can be the new brookbank if need be. They are pretty much at the same level, except Guenin would be better since he's on a 2way contract. Could save money. If we can't deal Sutton, might as well trade Brookbank

True, but a roster spot is a roster spot, and if we can use that 750k on somebody else, I would rather do that. But as of right now, he is scheduled to be our #6 dman next year anyways. I am totally fine with that, and I like his grittyness, but he is inconsistent and sometimes hurts us as much as he helps us

He should be good for the Portland Pirates or whichever AHL team other than Syracuse the Ducks decide to send him to.
