Through Friday's games, The AHL was averaging 5.7 goals per game. NHL last season was 5.2.

The 0.5 goal difference is only a small part from shootouts: .097 per game. So the .43 difference I suppose is due to the rule changes. At least I'm hoping so, and I hope the changes carry over to the NHL when it returns.
