The "99 Hours of Hockey" event will begin with a game between local Valley police and fire-department teams Thursday at 7:30 a.m MST. The final event will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 a.m. MST

Think about it -- that's 100 teams and 2,500 skaters -- in the desert! And there are naysayers out there who say that the NHL was wrong for expanding into the Sun Belt.

The Coyotes have donated all of the ice time for the week to amateur hockey and no teams will be charged for ice. Fans are encouraged to attend the week of festivities free of charge and all games will be open to the public.

Okay, so can the Ducks organization get something equivalent or better going???

Yeah, but he'd probably just be happy to not get laid off if the lock out lasts through the summer ...
