Brett Hull says he doesn't think there will be NHL hockey played this season unless both sides are willing to compromise, which he doesn't see happening until an entire season has been lost.

I don't know why the older hockey players always say that...I think the game is still great and exciting. I'm more interested now than I was a decade ago, actually!

There are many, many more fans today than 10 years ago.

I'll be honest -- the safety netting, two-ref system, and overabundance of non-physical players has really reduced the quality of the NHL, in my opinion, over the last 10 years. I agree wholeheartedly with Brett Hull!!

I guess we agree to disagree then! None of the stuff you mentioned had bothered me. Safety netting has nothing to do with the quality of the game, although I will agree that it is uneccesary and doesn't even serve it's intended purpose anyway. I've seen way more pucks fly into the audience on the side of the rink than the ends. Two-ref system...I could take it or leave it. No real opinion one way or the other. Less physical? More skilled.

Hockey then or now...it's all good to me! hockey1.gif

ana-ban.gif ana-ban.gif Of course, hockey is hockey. The netting thing is something that would only bother those of us with vision problems. When you have trouble with your eyes, there just is no way to get around it....the netting becomes a brick wall and ruins watching any game.
One day you just might understand better, till then...it would be hard to comprehend what we go through. biggrin.gif

I for one love to hear "the mouth that roared"......he (Hull) can be a kick and a half!!! biggrin.gif
