Free Stanley

A most interesting idea to organize the Stanley Cup Playoffs each year under a system that would also include all minor league teams in the mix. I like! smile.gif

Also, I voted for Stompin Tom as trustee. Love his song.

Why only the Canadian teams though? There are plenty of ECHL and AHL teams in the states. If the Macon Whoopee are the best hockey team in North America (for example) they should get a shot! biggrin.gif

I don't read that it would be only Canadian clubs. As a matter of fact, this statement shows that they are thinking all clubs

QUOTE
Imagine then a Stanley Cup competition, should the NHL ever come to its senses and start playing hockey again, that could pit the New York Rangers against the Indian Head Chiefs - in Indian Head - winner take all. WeS'd watch it and love every minute of it. And once in awhile the Chiefs might win, and how great would that be?

Last time I looked the Rangers were most definitely not in Canada.

I guess I'm confused because I read this...
QUOTE
We propose that the Stanley Cup be returned to its original challenge cup format. For now this challenge would be limited to a competition among the remaining top level hockey leagues operating in Canada.

The important words in that quote are "for now". They mean, until the NHL settles it's little problem, I think. Anyway -- it is a Canadian trophy and I always wondered why they just didn't keep it for themselves, then I remembered to $$$ and it all made sense.

I thought I'd throw in my confused look into the fray blink.gif Man that would be a cool sight to see...and don't think those AHL clubs wouldn't want anything more than to beat an NHL team... ana-ban.gif ana-ban.gif

You got that right! The competition would be intense...all the players on the "minor" leagues would have something to prove to their overpaid brethren! ph34r.gif
