Ok, I glanced at a number of topics and I didn't see this one - since I'm always accused of duplicate topic posting! So forgive me if I did it again, but I tried!

This is a good article commenting on how sports should be played for the love of winning - and not for the love of money...

This a topic a lot of fans can agree with...there have been players out there that you can point to and say they played the game because they loved it and they would have even if it didn't make them a ton of money...Sure making a living playing the sport you love is a dream come true....who do you feel played for the love of the game?

The NHL needs to devise a formula that financially rewards a player every time his team wins. The league needs a salary structure that mandates half of the money be tied to winning and losing. For example, let's say the league determines that $800 million of its revenue will be handed to the players in salary. Well, $400 million should be given to the players in base salary, and the other $400 million should be determined on a nightly basis that is tied to winning and losing....


I'd put the coaches and trainers and executives on a wage-and-win scale, too. And then I'd market the NHL as the lone professional sports league in which the participants and fans are in the same boat -- winning is the No. 1 priority.

This idea I like. I like a lot. Everyone has to earn their money! Players, coachs, trainers and executives! It'll never happen but boy, it sure would be nice.

It's all about the money dear. Just try to get ANY sports equipment for the "love of it", find a place you can play your sport for the "love of it"....MONEY, it always is about the money....

It's the love of playing that brings a person to a sport.

But it's the love of winning that keeps a person playing and playing hard.

In the end it's all about winning. For the owners, players and the fans.
