The NHL intends to adopt a number or new rules when hockey resumes, and GMs want to see how the AHL has done with some of its new wrinkles this season, which included limiting the goalie's ability to play the puck behind the net as well as wider blue-lines and penalty shootouts.

The group of goaltenders, which includes Marty Brodeur, wanted to express some concerns and opinions about the prospect of slimming down goalies' equipment and also weigh in on the issue of bigger nets, which has been raised as a discussion point amongst the GMs.

We can talk about the hot button issues all we want - smaller goalie equipment, bigger nets, no touch icing, shootouts, the lines on the ice and the hundred or so other concepts floating around - but until we change our attitudes and philosophies, the game will be in the muck.

It is a uniquely hockey thing to savage our own sport on a consistent basis and it has to stop.

Because if it doesn't, you can dress the goalies up in whatever you want, put in soccer nets, paint the ice pink, but none of it will amount to anything if our attitudes don't change for the better.

NHL management and players dined and talked together during two feel-good days, but they are no closer to settling their seven-month old lockout.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and the GMs went for dinner with NHL Players' Association executive director Bob Goodenow and seven veteran players. Later, Goodenow and Bettman had a drink together in the hotel bar.

I would've liked to have been a fly in that bar!

heheheheeh, Veca, I don't think the Ducks were deliberately ignored. Only a few "big" players were there.
