"Guess, I'd become an orange-liner," Jeff Jillson said.

Shhh....don't give them ideas. However, I am a purist too, but I kind of like the blue ice. Maybe it will lend itself to a better surface. Perhaps they are using the same stuff they put in those freezer packs for ice chests, and that's why it's blue. Either that or I am way off board

But what I don't get is that the "red line" is now dark blue and the "blue lines" are now orange.

Actually, I think that's why the Long Beach Arena has blue ice -- a big sponsor is Jet Blue. Plus there is that whole blue whaling wall thing too.....

The Long Beach Arena? Or the blue ice?

The glare affects the cameras, whether they are still or video. From what I've been told it can sort of blind the camera. I was told to aim for the darkest part of the jeresy when taking photos at games just because of the glare.

Since I would never consider myself purist anything, I like the blue ice, especially if it will help with taking pictures. What the heck, blue is cool and mellow and I love blue so I'm happy!!!

Honestly? I think it's a good idea. I do find less glare off the ice, and while the nets are still tough to see through, it's a lot easier to look at a blue background than a white background through them -- at least for my eyes.
I suggested blue ice a few years ago when we got stuck with the nets (which I still think will eventually disappear when people quit buying those seats), and I still kind of like it overall.
