Wht don't teams just draft crappier goalies?? hmm.gif

I think eliminating the clutching, grabbing and interferance is a better idea. And get rid of the two line pass rule!

I have a better idea. How about NHL hockey back on the ice?

What difference do the size of the nets make, or the color of the ice or the price of tea in China, for that matter? No hockey is no hockey. Regardless of what else we discuss and finagle with. (I'm going through hockey withdrawals and feeling grouchy. And my husband left on yet another business trip today)

I know how a lot of you are feeling. Why try to improve the game if there is no game right now? I'll think about the idea of larger nets and all when we get some hockey on the ice. That is my main focus right now. sad.gif tomatomelrose.gif

"Excuse my French, but this is bull----," Theodore told The Montreal Gazette from Stockholm, where he tended net for Djurgarden in the Swedish Elite League this season.

"This is junk, and I hope it's not serious," Theodore said. "The idea of a bigger net is crap. I was drafted as a goalie who has spent his life, since I was 7, learning to play the angles. And now, all of a sudden, they're thinking of doing this?"

Then maybe goalies shouldn't dress like the Michelin Man.

I think the NHL is just discussing things to make scoring higher, therefore more fun for fans. Obviously, hockey on the ice is the best, but we all know it will happen eventually. They DO have to make the game more fun to watch. People jumping up and cheering for more than one goal a game would be an improvement.

The game even 10 years ago, goalies weren't so er ehem padded. So, sorry Jose, stick a sock in it.

Even the samllest changes in the size of the nets will make goal keepers worse. they play to protect the goal which they know the size of, they need to know the angles like Jose said. I know from playing football at school, one net is about a 6" shorter than the other and it make a hell of a diffence when you move to the bigger one from the smaller one. The times when you'd leave the ball to go over it will go in. It's very annoying. Keep the nets the same. Make the keeper's pads a bit smaller if you want but that won't do much; Look at Bourder. Try and get rid of the trap and such. They still had the same sized goals in the 80s didn't they? Lots of goals were scored then, weren't they?

By the way......

bullshi* used as the term not meaning really poppoo from a bull is connerie in french, meaning vulgar term of stupidity

bull shi* used as term poopoo from a bull is merde de taureau
merde being shi* as you guys stated and taureau being the bull

Jose wouldn't have said bull merde, because that doesn't make sense in french, unless one was spekaing frenclish, like spanglish, hehehehehe

i think larger nets would be great. goalies today are much more athletic, plus they got those marshmellow man shoulder/chest pads.

you don't have to make it into a soccer net, just push out the sides by 6 inches on each side, lift the cross bar by another 6 inches.

There is a game with wider nets: bandy...

Hockey is no bandy... Next they forbid contact on ice!

Leave the nets as they are.

Makes a pleasing picture of a goalie, but that's about it. If they already have made one I think maybe it's a done deal? dry.gif

Here's the tagline with the photo:

"In this undated photo released by the Buffalo Sabres, a Buffalo Sabres employee demonstrates a new style net the team designed in Buffalo, N.Y. The new design features curved posts and crossbar, creating an opening that's 13 percent larger than the old NHL standard. The new design will be one of three to be discussed for consideration when the league's general managers meet in Detroit April 8-9, 2005."

Why we play without goalies?
No way leave it as they are. More goals at first we need a season.
