Moore to appear at Bertuzzi hearing
QUOTE
Danson said he and Moore weren't invited there for the expressed purpose of opposing Bertuzzi's reinstatement, but "if Gary Bettman asks for Steve Moore's opinion on reinstatement, Steve will give it to him."

The NHL has not even officially acknowledged that Bertuzzi's reinstatement hearing with Bettman is being held on Tuesday at NHL headquarters in New York City, so that gives you some idea as to the shroud of secrecy and the high degree of sensitivity on this particular issue.

Brendan Morrison hopes Todd Bertuzzi is reinstated so his Vancouver Canucks teammate can begin rebuilding his NHL career.

And Morrison gets no arguments from other Team Canada players getting ready to take part in the IIHF world hockey championship.

"All interested parties, including Mr. Bertuzzi, Mr. Moore, the Vancouver Canucks and the NHL Players' Association, had a full and fair opportunity to participate in the hearing and to offer relevant evidence and testimony. At the conclusion of the hearing, commissioner (Gary) Bettman took the matter under advisement. There is no immediate timetable for a decision."

"Currently the elite European teams are looking for signings right now with the NHL players that they're pursuing, so those jobs are disappearing as we speak," Morris told Toronto all-sports radio station The Fan 590 on Wednesday.
The Vancouver Canucks forward met with NHL officials Tuesday in New York seeking reinstatement from his indefinite suspension for his March 2004 on-ice attack on Moore, who was then a member of the Colorado Avalanche. Moore is currently a free agent and hasn't fully recovered from his injuries.

dry.gif I just wish the whole matter would be resolved one way or the other. Hockey does not need any more negative PR. It's like no good news from hockey land any more!!! There are a lot of fences the NHL is going to have to mend if they ever hope to retain what few fans they had!!!

With the Moore/Bertuzzi debacle, no one is going to come out a winner I'm afraid!! boxed.gif

I don't agree with the "hurry up and reinstate him so he can get a job in Europe" theory though! Bert should be playing for the Canucks when autumn rolls around! Grrr! mad.gif

I can't remember what Bert's contract status will be when/if he and the NHL come back this season, but I can't imagine that current Vancouver GM Dave Nonis will let him go easily. And Bert will want to continue playing with his buddy Nazzy...if he comes back from Sweden that is. Nonis will have his hands full trying to resign about half the team though..it's gonna be a mess. crazy.gif

But yes, the Ducks could sure use a power forward!! And the Canucks could sure use goaltending. Between you and me, SC...how about Jiggy and a pick/prospect for Bert??biggrin.gif

For Bertuzzi??? Who's dreaming now?? Although Cassivi is probably better than anyone the Canucks have in the system! rolleyes.gif

I don't have any desire for Bertuzzi on the Ducks. Yes, he's big and plays hard, but it's like Joe Corvo - the side issues aren't worth it.

dry.gif While I am sort of a Bertuzzi fan ... smile.gif I don't know if we really want to have the negative press and risk a repeat of the Moore mess... rolleyes.gif

It would be something to talk about for sure, I just don't know if we seriously would want it.

Doubt Bertuzzi is coming here...But I would be happy.

"Bertuzzi makes me whoozie"

and we didn't mean from a hit to the head. heheheheheheh

Bryz? Chistov? Why won't you give me Jiggy?? Bertuzzi's an All Star, people!! I guess he's a bit tarnished now, but what has Jiggy done for you lately? tongue.gif Of course I may have ulterior motives for wanting Jiggy within driving distance! sleazy.gif

Seriously, the Ducks need power forwards bad...but Bert does come with a little too much baggage.
