According to a report in the East Valley Tribune, the National Hockey League could skip the 2006 NHL All-Star Game.

NHL sources confirmed to the paper that, if the league sends players to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, then the league would likely cancel the All-Star game.

Uh, so when did All-Star weekend get away from being a fan-fest?? blink.gif The NHL wants to attract fans back to the "Coolest Game on Ice" and so it's going to take away the fans being able to vote their favorite players into a highly publicized, media friendly event? What dimwits are running this league anyway? Oh, nevermind, we already have had a year of evidence answering that question. dry.gif

The NHL is expected to cancel the 2006 All-Star Game that was scheduled to be held in Arizona, but Glendale officials are hoping to land the 2009 event.
