If $850,000 isn't enough money in addition to his endorsement deals with Reebok and Gatorade...he can go to Switzerland IMO. Despite the hype, he's still an unproven rookie playing in the juniors. He hasn't earned the right to be paid millions yet. And for his agent to be holding this deal over Crosby's potential NHL team is exactly what's wrong with the system in the first place.

"Brainwashed" by his agent no doubt, just as all the NHL players were by their union leader. If agents' fees are based on their clients' salaries, then they certainly want to be shown the money ... perhaps even disregarding their clients' primary wishes.
Brisson says even if the NHL and the NHLPA work out a new collective bargaining agreement, caps on entry-level salaries could still make it more profitable for Crosby to play outside of North America.

"Not knowing what the entry-level restrictions will be in the upcoming CBA, we need to cover our bases."
...
"We would want some sort of mechanism which would allow him to come back if he wanted, but it could come at a price," Brisson said.

"With me, there's a little bit of an excitement factor, a surprise factor, not knowing exactly where I'm going to end up. It'll be fun to see how the lottery works out."

"Oh yeah. The NHL is where I want to be," he said. "It's where I've dreamed of playing. It's the best league in the world."
Crosby said he wants to have a backup plan, in case NHL talks collapse.

"I had all 30 teams here on a piece of paper and I was just crossing them out as they went," he said from his home town in Nova Scotia.
"Obviously the advantage of going to Pittsburgh as a young team and, you know, they had a great finish to the season last year. I'd like to be a part of that and obviously, you know, you can't go without mentioning Mario Lemieux. He would be a great role model."

Then Troy Crosby can put another picture on his wall in Cole Harbour, N.S.
"I've been told he's got a photo in his den where he's looking back into the net . . . I was on a breakaway and I roofed it," Lemieux said Saturday, describing a goal he scored as a junior against Troy Crosby. "He was a little late on it."
