Brodeur not happy with new goalie rules:

QUOTE
"I don't want to complain, but I really don't understand the logic of taking away a talent that only a handful of goalies around the league really have," Brodeur said yesterday. "All the general managers who didn't have good puck-handling goalies voted this rule in, I'm sure...

"Listen, Jacques Plante used to wander out of his net and play the puck back 40 or 50 years ago and now it's not okay? It's like they want goalies to go back to being robots," he said.

I dont really like the rule either, I think the BEST rule would have been that a goalie loses his immunity once he steps out of his crease/behind the blue line. that solved the issue of them being able to play the puck while being fair to the other players.

Oh geez, and yet another reference to Jiggy's pads in that Ottawa Sun article. rolleyes.gif

Unlike J.S. Giguere of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the New York Islanders' Garth Snow, Brodeur has never used the type of ballooning equipment that makes a goaltender look like the Michelin Man between the pipes.

I do not remember the site where a few days ago I found Nabokov comments and he sounded frustrated on the new rules too...

Nope, so maybe if we ignore them, they'll just go away and bother someone else dry.gif

Would Marty like to go back to the time before goalie wore masks too, since he's wallowing in nostalgia? Or how about before the butterfly? rolleyes.gif

Besides, without his defense constantly clutching and grabbing he won't have time to play the puck, he'll be too busy actually goaltending.
