As for Bettman stepping down...why? He just won a huge battle for the owners and made sure that all 30 teams will not only make a profit but will also be able to compete on even footing for years to come. He is a hero with the owners right now, no need for him to step down.

It's a pity that Bettman won't be going too but at the moment it's just the fans that detest him so he ain't going anywhere.

Sportsnet Story
Daly and Saskin made this deal, not Goodenow and Bettman. Along with that and the fact that Bettman made Daly a duputy commissioner, I think it's not out of the question that Bettman may be next.

Like Daly, Saskin became the face of the lockout, expertly arguing the union's case in the media and displaying the kind of moxie in front of the camera that his predecessor did not show.
Saskin, like Daly, worked countless hours to try and bring this deal to fruition, sleeping very little and spending the last few weeks of negotiation in New York away from his home in Toronto.
Saskin Story
From reading the story, he sounds like he might be the best man for the job.
Good luck to him.
