Basically philly traded roenick for a player but they can't identify the player yet.

Did Gagne get traded too? If so where? I can't believe they let him go for nothing.

From Spector's trade rumors:

Glen Macnow and Howard Eskin on 610 WIP are stating that Roenick is on his way to Los Angeles. The reason the deal has not been announced is because the player coming back to Philly cannot be reached (? sounds fishy). Expect an announcement very soon. Roenick is in good spirits because this places him closer to home in phoenix.

Oh well that's fine. I don't like JR anyway and if he becomes a King then it's just another reason for me not to be his biggest fan smile.gif

As a huge Flyers fan, I have to admit I really liked JR, but I think Forsberg is probably a better fit. Who knows, JR could go down with another concussion and be forced to retire.

Add JR & Possibly Palffy and you'll have 2 pretty good lines...
Demitra, JR & Palffy
Luc, Frolov & Conroy.

The Kings declined to comment, but a source familiar with the situation said that talks were underway and Roenick could be traded as soon as today. The Kings are unlikely to offer a top prospect in return.
...
Roenick, who has 475 goals in his 16-year career, was resigned to being the odd man out with the Flyers, telling a Philadelphia radio station, "The Flyers have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup with Peter Forsberg than with Jeremy Roenick."

So is JR going to tell those Staples lemmings to not to come and watch?? laugh.gif

This rumor was blown dead by Dave Taylor last night, Flyers wanted Frolov AND Brown. Im sure he quoted Bryan Burke with a goold ole F-Off on that one.

It sounds like the Flyers were desparate to dump JR's salary. Wow, JR plus a 3rd round draft choice for future considerations, who probably won't be any of their top prospects.

The Kings got the better of this deal.

Whatever you think of his personality, Roenick is one of the best in the NHL and it is a very solid pick up for Los Angeles. However, any one player, however good, isn't going to carry the team by himself. I look forward to seeing Feds and JR go head to head!!!

As for us, well, we'll see! We have the talent to be competitive, but we all want more, we want to be strong and dominate! There are many questions over the team right now, but even as it stands, we will hold our own.

Getting Roenick means that they will probably not be bringing back Palffy. That's fine by me. The Queens got an old guy that will score MAYBE 25 goals and got rid of a younger guy that would probably have scored 35-50 goals.

This is a good move for those of us that like watching the Queens lose. $5 million for Roenick? They could've gotten Forsberg for just a few hundred thousand more!

I wonder how Roenick will like having glitter on his sweater... hmm.gif

I agree, if getting Roenick means that we dont sign anybody else to help the 1st line then Im dissapointed. Granted we got him and a pick for nothing but if we lose Palffy then Im bummed.

It will be exciting watching a team with Roenick and Avery but I want to win and Im not sure this gets us to where we need to be. SIGN ZIGGY and FROLOV and I will be happy!!!!

BTW, does anyone think you guys overpaid for your new boy? 4 years for 28 million, right? Thats big bucks in the old NHL not to mention this one.

They paid a lot, yes, but I'm not sure that they overpaid. He's the defending Norris Trophy winner, so he should be paid the most of any defenseman. Pronger's deal was huge, and this is bigger. Deservedly so.

It's still not the max you can get, and is in fact about a million less than that. In that regard, it's not a bad deal!

As for the Queens, I do think they will sign Frolov, but not Palffy. I can't imagine they have the money to sign Demitra, Roenick AND Palffy. But, we will see.
