Jocelyn Thibault has been traded from Chicago to Pittsburgh for a fourth round draft pick in 2006. (link)This is a very good signing for the Pens and should give M.A. Fleury time to develop. They are going to be a great team in the near future. Wow, how times have changed.

Wasn´t there a poll about the Pens making the playoffs??? hmm.gif But I think it is still a long way for them. I guess it is a good sign for the team.

The Pens drafted Crosby; signed Gonchar and Palffy; and traded for Thibault (not an elite goalie, but could be solid). They do need a physical defenseman. If they can get that, they look pretty good for a playoff spot. Even without the defenseman, they could very will make it into the playoffs.

Thibault, who became expendable when Chicago signed Nikolai Khabibulin, gives the Penguins a veteran presence in net to complement young backstop Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury was picked first overall by the club in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

"It's funny how things change," Thibault said. "Last year, Pittsburgh was a team I wouldn't have predicted to be a contender this year. Or for a couple of years. Things happen ... fast.

"Right now in the NHL I think this is one of the places to be."
