I guess this is a testament to how well Lewis has been treated by the Red Wings. However, I don't get it. There isn't another team that would be willing to hire Lewis as a scout? Why tuck your tail between your legs and return to the team that just fired you?

It's nice to see that the Wings offer a new job after Lewis's 17 year service with them!

dontgetit.gif Well, it's a job and if he likes the area, likes the orgainization it's a good deal all around. He just may realize that he isn't coaching material. Lot of guys have tried and not been able to do the job. Why take it personally? That is how life is, not everyone can be successful at such demanding jobs. He was liked by the team, just way too nice to lower the boom on the guys who were not delivering. That's not a bad trait being so nice, unless you're job is a supervisory job. I wish him all the best. wink.gif

QUOTE
Q: Are you surprised Dave Lewis accepted a job as a scout in the Red Wings organization?

A: Not really. I still get the sense Lewis has strong feelings about the organization, and this was a way for him to remain with the Wings in some capacity.

Also, it's an opportunity to remain in the NHL, in an important role, and it enables Lewis to still live in the area full time.

This was a good opportunity for Lewis, and a good hire for the Wings.
