"The Calgary Flames on Wednesday announced the retirement from the NHL of Turek, who won a Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999 and posted a career year one season later with St. Louis.

The 35-year-old Turek, who spent parts of eight seasons in the NHL, will continue his playing career in his native Czech Republic." bye2.gif

i wonder how many players we'll see retiring this year. I wonder if the new rules will effect their decisions? you would have thought that lots of 'average',overpaid and older players will be left without jobs to pave way for the younger and cheaper guys that teams sign due to the new agreement.

what do you think?

I wonder if turek left cause he thought he might not be able to handle the restrictions on his pads and the new high tempo game?

noexpression.gif Well, I guess we will be seeing a few more of these "goodbye" threads soon. It is sad to know we won't be seeing him play anymore, I only wish him the best back home.
