Now that Teemu Selanne has been signed by the Mighty Ducks, what grade would you give Mighty Ducks GM Brian Burke?

I gave him an A, maybe a little high thinking about it, but he has given us most of the things we need, grit, more scoring, better D but hopefully he isn't done as there are a few more areas that need to be addressed e.g. filling the lines up, possibly more scoring and signing more players for portland

I completely agree, TA. Burke has made the team physically stronger, he's made them faster, he's gotten rid of some of the dead weight (Malec, Foster, Krog, etc.), and he's added some veteran's that know how to win. Jason Marshall, Teemu Selanne, Scott Niedermayer...all are great leaders. Adding Todd Fedoruk and Travis Moen - great grit and toughness to make sure the team is not pushed around.

I give him an 'A'. He's completely changed the face of this team in less than a month. Great job.

B+ to A-...You should have included half grades. Are you done with your doom and gloom outlook now?

I'm gonna give him a B+ for now. Yes he turned the team around, signed veterans, and improved our grit. But if he manages to keep everyone then I'll give him a A.

dribble.gif I'll give a grade at the end of the season. For me to opine right now would be silly. The proof will be "in the pudding"....

I'm with Veca on this one. I wanna see how the guys gel together on the ice. hmm.gif
The last season we played I had high hopes because, on paper, we looked pretty damn good.
Then the season got started. dry.gif
So, in my humble opinion, let the games be played!!! dribble.gif

How the team does has nothing to do with Burke. His job is to put together the best team he can within the salary cap. After that, it's up to the coaches and the players. I can see waiting until opening night to grade Burke, but after that it's out of his hands and grading him on the performance of the team is unfair.

resigned: everybody but Salei.

- Babcock, Skoula.

hmm.gif I would tend to humbly disagree. It is the GM's job to see to it that the team fits well. He has the power to move players, not the coach or anyone else.
If at any time there is friction or discord, it's the GM who needs to act. In a perfect world, players all could work together without personality clashes but it isn't a perfect world. If one or more players are not pulling their weight and the coach can't get the best out of them, it's the GM that has to act. It all begins and ends with the GM. That's what he get's the big bucks for, making sure that the team is the best not just on paper but on the ice as well.

Now that Burke had traded half of the team, how would you grade him? We should start a new poll.
