This article is about veterans such as Scott Stevens, Ron Francis and Steve Thomas who may either retire or sign with a team. The author reviews each player's situation and then gives his "Best Guess" on what the player will do.

Regarding Steve Thomas:
QUOTE
Stumpy is a bit of a wild card in the graybeard sweepstakes. Working out in Toronto, where his children are involved in minor hockey, Thomas has suddenly found himself an interesting option for teams looking to fill out their roster with veteran talent who can still skate.

biggrin.gif With all the goons we are stocking up on, Stumpy would be a very good, veteran calming factor for this team.
He might just be able to contain the enthusiasm of guys like Kipper.... crazy.gif

Thanks for the article. I hope Stumpy can return back to the NHL or more importantly the Ducks! ana-ban.gif

The author doesn't think Stumpy will be back but I hope he's wrong. Stumpy would probably be a cheap addition but invaluable for his veteran leadership.

But isn't Thomas like... 42 years old! And if he did come here, it would probably be his last season in the NHL

He was reborn in Anaheim. I do not think the situationis the same. I would think the addition is a LONG SHOT AT BEST

Messier, Chelios, and probably Stevey will retire.

You say that as if 42 is already destined for the old folks home. Cheliosaurus is older and he's got a contract. Stumpy still has some life in him and he'd be inexpensive. You'll discover when you get to that age that it isn't really as old as you thought it would be when you were 20. Trust me!

Yea this is the 21st century! Being 42 is not old. Even in sports. If he still can play let him play!
