One player Rangers fans almost certainly won't see again is goaltender Dan Blackburn, who also was among yesterday's cuts. Blackburn was trying to make the team despite a nerve injury that prevented him from using a catching glove on his left hand. But he suffered an MCL sprain Thursday, ruining his chances. He will likely retire rather than return to the minor leagues.

Actually, this article is incorrect. According to the Rangers official website he has not been cut. They expect him to miss two weeks is the only comment. I think they'll give him a shot at a pre-season game if the sprain clears up by then.

I'll take a look for the article when I have time, but there were some quotes from the Rangers coach last week saying that Dan was in great shape and doing very well...
